Attracting affiliates for first product launch: $20k contest

I've sold products as an affiliate for years now but never switched over to the vendor side of things until now. I'm launching CTR Theme (http://www.ctrtheme.com), and I'd love some pointers for attracting affiliates.

So far, here's what I've done:
  • Built a high quality product
  • Signed up as a Clickbank vendor (since it gives me access to more affiliates)
  • Offered a 75% commission
  • Put up $20k in prizes
  • Created an affiliate tools page (http://www.ctrtheme.com/affiliates)

So... what else can I do to get the attention of Clickbank affiliates? I've sent CB a request to advertise on their listings pages but haven't heard back from them yet.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

 Great response from people who have bought the product, but most sales have been through my direct channel (my list, my site, SEO, ppc). I've had more than a few affiliate sales so far, but I don't think I've caught the attention of any big affiliates yet. How do you get the word out initially about a product / contest when your list doesn't include many affiliate marketers?

 Hi eppie,

Have you tried approaching reputable people in your niche? From what you've said it sounds like you've got some sales going. If you've got some good stats like conversions rates, etc. You could send a nice email to ask consideration for a joint venture or promotion with numbers to back up your product.

 you can also join a site like JVnotifypro.com and find loads of great affiliates looking for products to promote. I go there to check out the product launches going on and see if there is anything worth promoting (which is rare, but does happen on occasion. )

 just a few things I notice, you may offer more to your potential affiliates. Some of the things that I look for in an affilaite area is product images, potential kw lists, an article or two that I could add to my autoresponder, and tips and resources on how to promote your product.

also, personally, I think your banners are kind of plain and boring. I don't see that they would get people clicking on them, so as an affilaite it doesnt give me any reason to promote your product.

One thing that you might do is talk to some of the bloggers out there running blog marketing blogs. There are a lot of these guys who regularly review new themes, and promote the ones that they like.

find other adsense related product owners, and see if you can do a JV deal with them to get them to promote.

Basically, quit waiting for them to find you, and get uout there and find at least a few affialites to promote it for you.

maybe offer a few of them a free review copy to get people a chance to see what your theme can do. I wouldnt just give them out to anyone who asks, but you should be willing to give out a few review copies to people who are proven affiliates in the niche.

As an affliate in the IM niche myself, I get so many offers to promote products daily that I never go looking for a product to promote. IF you wait for them to come looking for you, then you will probably never really draw the affiliates to you.
