MDR providers proactively monitor their customers' networks, endpoints, and other IT resources for security incidents. Upon detection of threats, the MDR provider investigates and resolves issues without requiring direct response from their client. So, I think it is essential to address MDR companies regularly.
Speaking about the choice, I can suggest checking a list of mdr vendors here https://underdefense.com/blog/top-6-managed-detection-and-response-mdr-providers/ It helped us understand what companies are out there, compare them, and choose a proper one. We ended up working with UnderDefense and were pleased with the results.

MDR, or Managed Detection and Response, providers are companies that offer services to help organizations detect, respond to, and manage cyber threats. These providers typically offer a range of security services, such as monitoring network traffic, analyzing logs and events, identifying potential threats, and responding to incidents. MDR providers often use advanced technologies, including behavioral analytics, threat intelligence, and machine learning, to enhance their capabilities and detect sophisticated threats. Their goal is to provide organizations with a proactive and efficient approach to cybersecurity, minimizing the risks and impact of cyberattacks.
