How do I Install wordpress?

My impression is that affilorama (mark ling) used wordpress to develop websites correct? my question is how do I install and use wordpress? Is it not a program like Dreamweaver is? I apologize for asking a simple question but I have no experience. thank you

Hi there,

The easiest way to set up wordpress is to buy hosting with a company that provides you with a "cpanel" and "fantastico".

I would recommend Hostgator or the Affillorama premium hosting.

Once you have bought a domain name and hosting you can install wordpress with an easy point and click interface provided in the "fantastico" section of your hosting account.

So it differs from Dreamweaver in that you don't download any software. Rather it is all stored at your hosting company.

Hope that helps!

On Blue Host it's a simple click of a mouse on the WP logo on the C panel.
Installing Plugins, and themes are a mouse click as well. No File Transfer Protocals needed.

If you're using Affilorama Premium hosting, just go to the control panel, click the WordPress blog icon (under CGI Scripts), then click the "Install Now" button (Note: Please make sure that your public_html folder is empty before installing Wordpress).

it depends on the layout of your hosting with host gator your root folder is your first site then each site you add is a subfolder so if its your first site then install wordpress in the root folder but if its your second or 3rd then in will need to be installed in the folder with your new domain name.

We have no available stats on that but the content and backlinks are more important on your ranking than the software that you used to build your site :)

You could check if the folder is empty by going to the premium hosting control panel. Click on the "File Manger" folder then click "public_html" under "Your home". If you see only the parent folder in there (folder...) then that means that the folder is empty and you'd be able to install Wordpress successfully.
