I’m not a lawyer, but from what I’ve seen, the legal side of using USDT (or other stablecoins) for betting in Canada is still a bit of a gray area. The federal government doesn’t have specific laws banning cryptocurrency betting, but gambling laws are regulated at the provincial level. That means whether it’s “allowed” can depend on where you live — for example, Ontario has stricter rules because of iGaming Ontario’s licensing.
As for sportsbooks, a few offshore ones do accept USDT and other stablecoins, but they’re not regulated in Canada, so you’re taking on extra risk if there’s ever a payout issue. Big names like Stake, BC.Game, and Sportsbet.io support USDT, but again, these are international operators. If you want to play it safe, look for platforms licensed in your province, then see if they offer crypto deposits (most still don’t).
Bottom line: USDT betting is accessible in Canada, but you’ll mostly be using offshore sportsbooks. Make sure you check their reputation, licensing, and withdrawal policies before putting money in.
