Reaching an "Impossible" goal

I had a strange experience today:

I typically like to spend a day or two around the end of the year reading back over old journals to see how far I’ve come and how my life has changed.

Anyway, back in 2009, I first got started with AffiloBlueprint. Back then another member named “jem008” posted a screenshot of his ClickBank account. He was making just under $1000 per week.

Because I was new and needed some inspiration, I actually printed out his ClickBank screenshot and kept it with me. I’d look at it every day, pretending it was my own ClickBank account, before I started working on SEO and spinning articles through 2010.

Anyway, I found that old print out today, stuffed in one of my old journals.

The strange thing is that I now make more money than that.

Not a ton more, but still more.

It was strange because I remember spending so much time looking at that old print out. It almost seemed like an impossible goal to reach. No matter how hard I worked, the idea of making much money was always just out of reach for me.

And I can hardly believe that I beat that goal this year.

I was completely dumbstruck.

Don’t give up on online marketing, everyone.

Like Mark Ling says, your goals are just a little bit outside your reach. Just keep going and you can get there. You may not finish first in the marathon. But as long as you stay in the race, you’ll eventually get to the finish line.

-Clayton

PS: I don’t mean this to brag or anything, but I want to post my screenshot today.

Maybe it can be motivational for anyone out there just starting out, like I was back in 2009:

Wow! Very motivational for me Claton, Thanks a lot for this!

It's been 3 years since the first time I joined Affilorama, Affiloblueprint and bought the Affilojetpack. Learnt and tried everything taught, been trying to keep patient and persistent, but looks like nothing's going better for me.

I lost my websites. I lost my ability to pay my domains and hostig service fee, I can't pay my annual Aweber service free anymore. I will fix my funds with my daily job first to continue my BIG DREAM in affiliate marketing.

Having read this motivational post of yours I come to realize that confidence and faith in reaching the goal play the role, and I will start it now in 2014. I stopped by your website and I will contact you next time when I'm ready to cooperate with your service there.

Thanks so much and much success for you in the future!

Thank you Claton!
I am 2 months with AffiloBlueprint , but I started with Big Idea Mastermind with Empower Network first on the first month so in total this is my 3rd month in this industry. I've heard people making big money only being in the industry for 3 months or so.. ,so It seems its a wildest dream for me to even break the "egg" I am trying to understand what is going on in the world of the internet, I must say , it is not as easy as the "real world".

In the "real world" I own an IP company called Dooodolls , we design , manufactured and sell . hahah it seems a lot easier and made our millions from it when the times were real good..since we are venturing into animation and phone aps .. I started as an internet marketer , everything seems so challenging ! So competitive.. but I've truly learnt a great deal and hopefully to make my first sales in 2 months time.! finger cross!

Hey Clayton
You have given me and anyone else who reads your post enormous motivation, and congratulations on the success you now have. I think everyone needs to hear about the success stories from people and what they did to achieve it. So, go on, brag as much as you like, because it gives everyone else motivation to keep going.

Congratulations again.

AWESOME Clayton! I originally started in January of 2013 and have shifted gears a little to doing PPC. Now I am back to really learn the art of affiliate marketing building websites now that I have a little money coming in with PPC. Website optimization is no easy task and there is a lot of people out there that are doing it. Making $1,000 a week is $52,000 a year and is an income to be proud of in this day and time.....

I can't wait to read your post in January of 2015 to see that you doubled that. Good Luck with your ventures!

Thanks for the screenshot Clayton. Your progress is especially inspiring to me because it shows decent income, yes, but more than that it shows consistency. Thanks again for the inspiration.

Thanks for all your comments.

If I had to recommend one thing to anyone, it's this: Don't skimp on building your email list. Have a decent auto responder in place, but also get in the habit of sending out daily broadcast emails once you know your niche is a winner.

I know a lot of people are hesitant to send out daily emails because they are afraid of annoying people. But trust me, if you are in a very active market, the right people will actually WANT to get your daily emails. People love getting my newsletter. And the ones that don't unsubscribe (okay with me, since they are less engaged anyway).

Hope this helps.

I am very excited to see your great successes Clayton! I have come back here time and again because I believe in Mark's teachings and I sometimes question if affiliate marketing can still be profitable. I can see that if done properly, it truly can be. 2014 is the year I will quit my full-time day job finally...that is my goal.
I have made more money every year that I do marketing so I know I can do it.
Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Thanks Shalisha! I remember you from way back when :) How are you doing these days?

Thanks Rea, for me what has worked the best is building an email list and working on fine-tuning an extremely effective auto responder. Best of luck with your 2014 goal :)

Hey Clayton,

So happy to see your results. I remember following your blog in the early days and I know it was tough at times. Seeing your results after all these years of work is inspiring me to get back to work with affiliate marketing. I got severely Panda/Penguined and gave up after that! But right enough, I didn't have any good autoresponders in place.

Thanks for posting your Clickbank report, it's always good to see success.

I am so proud of you brother. I actually forgot about my affiliate sites that I did with affiloblueprint as I was using a different program. I got a clickbank check in the mail a couple of weeks ago for $500.00 , out of nowhere. It was a blessing because I owed exactly $500.00 in medical bills.

Needless to say, I'm following Mark's guide again for my next ten websites. Im going to get those up in the next five months or so... and try to catch up to you bro. Congratulations man, made my night...

Just the post I needed Clayton. I dabbled with this two years ago and then got busy with 'normal' work. I now have the time to get into it again and have been going over the Blueprint course again. I can't believe how much work it is but I am loving it, just getting impatient because I want to finish a site and get it operating. Thanks again.

That's a great story! Very inspirational. It's easy to get impatient with the amount we can do...but little by little it will make a difference. It's so important to note that this did not happen in a couple of weeks for you. It's 2014, that was 2009. That is a lot of blood, sweat and tears time! Thanks for writing this post. :)

Even though it is a bit harder to rank in Google than it used to be, it is still very possible to earn a decent income working from home. I've recently started trying again, and it's nice to read motivational threads like this one. Fingers crossed, and here's to everyone's success in 2014, and 2015 too :)

You've made some amazing progress in that time! And, it's not surprising considering how you had a goal and rather just dreaming about it, you put one foot in front of another until you reached it. That's how you reach any goal, as simplistic as it sounds. And, i'm sure you can remember every step on the road to get here.

Wow this is so inspirational. Thank you for this article. I've been reading books and watching youtube videos from rich people who achieved success. One of the their advice's was exactly like this - set up your goal and read through / write them every single day over and over again to build up a mind set that is willing to achieve this goal by all means and make the law of attraction work in your favor. Thanks for this post. I feel like now I will try not to skip this exercise and find time to id it daily.

If you are enjoying the process you can even not notice that you have already reached all the goals you have. So lucky you if you are enjoying what you do. But if the purpose is just to get money and you don’t believe in your job probably it will not bring any good results.

I think with printing that image of that user and holding it by your side and looking at it daily, you actually not knowingly did a technique called visualization... This technique actually can be found in a lot of different sources... The idea is always the same... To put the picture in your mind of something you want it bad and to project it on your life. I guess it worked in your case :)

The goal is not impossible. The problem is that most people are not ready to dedicate their time to hwat they do. If you are ready to whatever it takes the you will earn quite a lot. You need to relly on yourself and make the right choices. It is only impossible if you think it is.

Here are 11 significant strategies I got the hang of during that venture that I utilize each day in the steady quest for individual and expert achievement.

Get the straightforward things right. ...

Set both sensible and ridiculous objectives.

Buckle down. ...

Get others to work with you. ...

Try not to rationalize. ...

Try not to belittle others. ...

Be eager to fall flat

Fascinating story, thanks for sharing. I think you highlighted the point pretty clearly, and I definitely agree on that, the main key for success in the affiliate marketing business is to have patience and not to give up even when it seems like results are lacking. Something may look like an impossible goal today but it won't be the case in the near future, so if someone has a clear goal ahead of him or her, they should just keep going and desirably create some strategy of their activities so that they can track how fast they are moving.

Wow, Clayton, that's quite an inspiring story! It's amazing to see how far you've come since you started with AffiloBlueprint back in 2009. Your determination and persistence in reaching your goals are truly commendable. It's interesting how that ClickBank screenshot served as a powerful motivator for you all those years.

Your message serves as a great reminder for anyone starting out in online marketing. It's important not to give up and to continue pushing forward, even when success may seem impossible at times. As you mentioned, goals can sometimes feel just out of reach, but by staying committed and putting in the effort, you can eventually achieve them.

Sharing your screenshot today is a nice gesture. It's a way to motivate others who are starting their journey and remind them that with dedication and hard work, they can make progress too. Thank you for sharing your story, and I wish you continued success in your online marketing endeavors!

Wow, that's an incredible story, Clayton! It's always inspiring to hear about someone achieving a goal they once considered impossible. Your determination and perseverance have clearly paid off. It's amazing how a simple screenshot from another member served as a powerful source of motivation for you throughout the years. Your success serves as a reminder to never give up on our dreams, even when they seem out of reach. Thank you for sharing your story and for encouraging others to keep going on their own journeys. I'm sure your screenshot will motivate many aspiring online marketers out there. Well done!
