re: Why are drone flights banned in so many places?

I see signs everywhere in my city saying drone flights are banned. It’s weird, does somebody actually have some kind of bad intent? I dream of filming my city from above, and a drone would let me do that. There are cities where you can’t fly at all. Not just over landmarks and important sites, but anywhere. Why does it work like that? Is it about safety?

I always thought the ban applies where there are important sites that shouldn’t be filmed, because it could create security problems for the whole city or even the country. Maybe some military sites. I have no idea why some cities don’t allow filming at all.

If there are bans like that and signs up, it’s clearly not done with bad intent. I read that it’s really hard to quickly tell harmless filming from a threat from the ground, and a drone can also get in the way of planes, invade privacy, or fly into restricted sites. Or you might lose control completely, and the drone will crash and hurt somebody. Security is mostly handled by specially trained people, the military, and companies like EAS Company https://eascompany.uz/en/, which develop systems like AetherScan that identify the drone model, serial number, and the pilot’s position, so security services can now tell right away what kind of drone it is. Still, I connect the filming bans in cities with people’s privacy and personal safety.
