We can continue talking, arrange a few meetings and gradually discover more about each other without putting a label on everything immediately. I think this also makes it easier to notice whether the interest is based on genuine compatibility or simply the excitement of meeting someone new. There is nothing wrong with being enthusiastic, but I wouldn't want either person to feel pressured to make promises before we really know each other. A good relationship should have room for both closeness and independence. If the connection remains strong after the initial excitement settles down, that's much more meaningful to me.
