I love curating, but most people need to realize that curation is about sharing news along with your thoughts and opinions. Just sharing other people's stuff isn't enough .You need to share why you are sharing it. I learned about curation blogging from Blog Success 2 years ago, and its more relevant today than it was then. I also use a variety of curation tools to help:
Zymanta - they have a WP plugin, but I use the
Firefox adon, which allows me to curate to any WordPress or Blogger style blog. Find images and relevant news blogs from their network. ( adding your site to their network is free and a great way to pick up additional backlinks too....)
Insights for WP - this is a
wordpress curation plugin that allows me to search for Creative commons images, relevant blogs, Google news, Youtube Videos, and even my own blog posts from within my blog dashboard. I just go in under the post content field and enter my keywords and it finds relevant content.
CurationSoft - This is s paid tool, but they have a free version, although that is really limited in what you can do. With the pro version, I can search Google Blog search, Youtube, Flickr, Twitter, Blekko Search and Google News for relevant content based on my keywords. i can also import the feeds for all the blogs I follow (if you use Google reader, there is even an import Google reader function 2 click import for all your Google feeds) the feed reader helps me find the latest news on the blogs I read regularly and guest post on, helping me share my content faster and easier. It also has a drag and drop feature to easily share the content you find in your Wordpress blogs, and it is compatible with Google+ interface although FB doesn't like it.
I can go on and on about this tool. This and Traffic Travis are the only two programs I have ever bought that I can honestly say that I use every single day. I really should run out some video tutorials showing it off.
