Word Press Plugins

Hi everyone

I am just watched the video on installing the Affilorama wordpress theme and Mark mentions a list of recommended plugs and says the list is in the forum. I have searched for it without success can someone point me in the right direction please?

One of those is W3 Total Cache, so I can't be the only one who gets a message like this when it's installed.

/var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/httpdocs/wp-content is write-able. If
you've finished installing the plugin, change the permissions
back to the default:

How does anyone change the permissions without command-line access? I assume the permissions are now 777 which would allow anyone with access to the host machine to tinker with anything. Though I don't know how to do that, there's probably a lot of clever people who could do it.

What do others do with a message like that?

Hi LillyBing,

I don't think the permission was changed to 777 but I will have to ask our senior developers to double check this at the back end. Can you please send us an email with your domain name and admin username/password so that we can have your website's directory permissions checked? Thanks!

If it's writable, the permissions must be something like that. If they're 755 there wouldn't be such a message. Either that or the message is erroneously given.

I'm not sure it would matter anyway. My question was mainly to find out what others do when they get that sort of message. I can't think of anything that would make my site different from what anyone else would get with that plugin. If nobody else ever gets it, then that would be interesting.

If it was possible to get SSH access to the hosting machine, it would be very simple to check myself. Somehow I don't think that would be easy to arrange with this sort of hosting deal, though it is common with other deals.

Hi LillyBing,

I apologize but Affilojetpack does not have control panel access nor SSH access to the hosting server. Can you please send us an email at support with the specific domain name in question so that I can have it forwarded to our senior developers? Thank You.

I think a suggestion to improve the site might be to make the suggested plugins in the training instead of having to spend so much time searching for it. The training is as good as any i have seen, but this is just one place where it could be improved...

Affiloblueprint and Affilojetpack actually shows you what plugins you need to use. Though not all were mentioned in the training videos so the thread was created to inform the members: Wordpress plugins we recommend *UPDATED*

also, plugins are wideley debated on some things. There are hundreds of plugins, and for every function there are varying opinions on which is best. so although they have a list of the basic plugins you need, some of it will come down to what you want on your site. For example, I have almost 30 plugins on mine, doing everything from seo to an authors bio box to facebook connects. and a lot of other stuff.

You can literally get carried away with plugins, on some of my sites I have over 30 like James. W3 Total Cache is cool as it hooks into the Amazon cloud which makes it excellent for faster content delivery. Never had that issue with it though. I haven't used the hosting provided by Mark and Team so not sure if its related to that or not.
