Why is After Effects preview lagging on a high-spec machine?

I’m using After Effects on a high-spec machine (32GB RAM, RTX 4070, SSD), but still seeing frustrating preview lag — especially with heavy comps involving effects, precomps, or 3D layers. Tried lowering resolution, purging cache, and enabling GPU acceleration, but nothing’s fixed it yet.

I’ve been researching best practices from motion design agency workflows to see if there's a smarter setup or optimization I'm missing. If anyone’s resolved this on a similar rig, I’d really appreciate your insight.
