What is the best format to set up a word press blog like..

Hi all

I'll try and explain this without sounding like an episode of "Flight of the Conchords" (which I love, by the way!)...

What is the best way to set up a word press blog like the following...

index page - which links directly to:
blog, categories, whatever

...So that the links appear like the following in the navigation but are all created within wordpress...
link to blog = http://www.myblog.com/blog
link to categories (and their blog posts.. etc) = http://www.myblog.com/category/blog-post-article.php
link to whatever = http://www.myblog.com/whatever

I'm converting a current site and don't want "blog" being included in the post urls / links.

I was going to include in here what I was planning to do (and ask if it was correct) but thought trying to explain that in itself would just confuse things even more. :)

Kind regards
Mandy

Hi there

Bumping this post... not sure if this will help anyone answer or not...

Basically everytime I do a fresh post on the the blog I'd like the url to it to be converted to a silo style url.

Anyone?

Cheers Mandy

I'm supposed to have a bit of expertise on using WordPress but I must be getting slow in my old age, with me now a grandma and all. I don't really understand what you want to do.

Hi Fara

I guess I'm looking for a plug-in maybe? Either that or I may have to do it manually.

I'm going to rebuild my site from scratch. It's currently in a silo style format. I want to rebuild it and use word press.

However rather than having the urls within the blog looking like: (note this is not my real site address - just a pretend one for this post)

mydogshasfleas.com/blog/dog-flea-care/article-on-dog-flea-wash.php

Instead having it look like:

mydogshasfleas.com/dog-flea-care/article-on-dog-flea-wash.php

So as I post each new article or post in it converts the url and changes it like I've suggested above.

It sounded ok when I came up with the idea in my head but I'm now wondering if it's just a plain stupid idea.

Kind regards
Mandy

If you will use WordPress to build your site and you don't name any category or page or post "blog", "blog" will not appear in the url
