Niche down or more broad niche/blog?

I am attempting to create my first website. I have an idea of a blog I think you would call it, targeting a certain group of people, several categories with continuing posts that target different products and keywords. is this ok? Or do I have to try to niche down to a particular product?

Promoting a targeted niche is okay; same as promoting a general niche site. Both can bring in traffic and sales. The only difference is the amount of work, time, and effort you will be spending on the site. Of course, a general niche site requires more work as this has more content and pages than a targeted niche site.

My experience: niche down as much as possible (not too narrow) and when you filled that niche, expand a little. Deep is better than broad.

In my view, you should target a niche to focus on the potential customer and drive more sales. I recommend Wordpress as a best start. It's free, powerful and easy.

Hello!
I would recommend to begin with a very specific niche or topic(and even being more specific for newbies start with amazon niche site) just to stay focussed and make money as quickly as possible especially if you are new at the thing.

You can also go with AffiloJetpack that will fulfill pretty much of what you need even though you will commit to invest a little more after(you don't have too,but it's good if you want to see quickly the results of what you are struggling for).

Thank you.

I must say you have to work with your specific niche. Because working with your specific niche brings you the huge traffic and leads :)

It actually depends on which niche you are working into. Have you already checked on the competition? If the competition is tight, then I'd suggest you try to niche down a bit and look for a specialization which makes you unique among your competitors...

Hope this helps!:)

Everything is ok so long as you optimize your sites for your specific keywords and rank them individually.. While at first focusing on a single product might be easier for your SEO and overall link building, this is not necessarily the case with every website..

If your domain is a "brand name" rather than keyword focused, then perhaps it's better to create your website based on that brand, and focus on all the categories and products that you have in mind.

If on the other hand you are using some keywords in it, then perhaps it's better to optimize it specifically for those products/keywords
