Interesting Change To Mark's Bootcamp Blog

Hi all,
I just noticed that Mark's bootcamp blog main page has excerpts of all his articles without pictures or links to the sales page. How did he do this? Is it a static page? And, is there an SEO benefit to doing this?

 He says he has a plugin that he's testing, and he'll give it to you guys next week if he can't find any bugs.
