Cloak your affliate banner

Does anyone know how it is possible to cloak affliate banners I have been able to do this with affliate text links using a wordpress plugin called Affiliate Link Cloaking but it is not working for banners. When someone hovers there curser over my banners they see the affliate code.
Thank you for your help.

Hi tcoco_architect,

Have you tried using an affiliate redirect for your affiliate links? Affiliate redirects is another way to make your affiliate links "pretty". You would be assigning a new link for your affiliate link and replace your affiliate links with the redirect so if anyone hovers on your image or your CTA link, they see your redirect link. When they click on it, they will be redirected to your product page. If you are using redirects, you can use the redirect link on the banners instead of the affiliate link.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

I am using the Affiliate Link Cloaking plugin. I does not seem to work for banners I am not sure which part of the banner code to put in for the affliate link. If I have a code like this for an image

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=338645&u=616622&m=32855&urllink=&afftrack="><img src="http://www.shareasale.com/image/32855/racquet_depot_logo_final_flattened_00.jpg" ></a>

I would think the affliate link would be

href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=338645&u=616622&m=32855&urllink=&afftrack=

But that is not cloaking the image when I hoover my curser over the image you still see the affliate code

Yes, the affiliate link is http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=33864 ... &afftrack=
This is the link that you should cloak or redirect. I suggest you cloak the links first then use the cloaked link on your banner instead so it would look like this:

<a target="_blank" href=" YOUR CLOAKED LINK HERE "><img src="http://www.shareasale.com/image/32855/racquet_depot_logo_final_flattened_00.jpg" ></a>

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

The affliate link cloaker looks like this:
short link www.tenniselbowracquet.com/ "Put your short link here" I put "racquetdepot"
affliate link "Put your affliate link here" I put "http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=333335&u=611822&m=32425&urllink=&afftrack="

This worked perfect for the text link

For the banner though I still see the aflliate link when I hover over the banner

are you saying I should put in
<a target="_blank" href=" www.tenniselbowracquet.com/racquetdepot"><img src="http://www.shareasale.com/image/32855/racquet_depot_logo_final_flattened_00.jpg" ></a>

into affliate link for the banner?
Thats exactly what I did and it does not cloak the banner

Yes, that should cloak the link. Would it be possible to give us temporary access to your WP admin area to check what's causing the error? If so, please send us your site URL and the temporary login details.

You may create a temporary administrator user in the 'Users' menu of your WordPress site. From your dashboard, go to users on the left hand side. From there you can add a new user, and set the status to admin. then once the staff is done, you can delete the user or change the password.

Please send your logins as well as your inquiry through the contact form in our support page.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I have one concern about this since I am new at this and I am yet to make any money at it. CJ has the following message next to their links:

"Copy and paste the following HTML code into your web pages.
You must include all the above html in your links. Any missing html, including the image source, will prevent the link from tracking properly and result in a loss of commissions"

Is it possible this cloaking could cost me my commissions?

Hi tcoco_architect,

I know Commission Junction also lets you choose or create text links. You might want to check if you can get one for this particular merchant as that would be the easiest way.

If you go to www.tenniselbowracquet.com/racquetdepot, you will notice in your address bar that it redirects to http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=33333 ... &afftrack= so your affiliate link is still intact. You can try clicking on your cloaked link a few times and then check your stats in Commission Junction. This forum post might also help: Commission Junction Links?

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hi ronaldinwilliam,

It is always best to use the text links whenever it is available. For most links that come with banner or images, look for the link right after a href= . This would be, more often than not, your affiliate link. The link that comes after img src is the source link for the image in the banner and is *not* your affiliate link.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hey there,
I'm having the same issue! Here is one of my banner links.
<a href="http://www.yoursoulsplan.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=YSP&Affiliate=meljean"><img src="http://www.yoursoulsplan.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/book_cover.jpg" alt="Click Here to Place an Order" border="0"></a>
I'm confused as to what to remove and add in this link so that my banner add reads www.parentjoyfully/recommends/yoursoulsplanbook
Thanks for your help! I'm very new to this whole thing so if you can make this simple that would be wonderful :)

I'm getting a page not found error when I tried to use your link:
[Link no longer available]

Would it be possible to give us temporary access to your WP admin area to check what's causing the error? If so, please send us your site URL and the temporary login details.

You may create a temporary ADMINISTRATOR user in the 'Users' menu of your WordPress site. From your dashboard, go to users on the left hand side. From there you can add a new user, and set the status to admin. then once the staff is done, you can delete the user or change the password.

Good day,

I have been trying to figure this out now for 3 days and i'm on the verge of a breakdown LOL! Seriously, i really need help with this one.

I'm trying to cloak my banner ads. Here is an example of a link.

<a target='new' href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=2hp/QuudPbo&offerid=my id.10000191&type=4&subid=0"><IMG alt="Hay House, Inc." border="0" src="http://affiliate.hayhouse.com/Logo/logo_bw_120x60.jpg"></a><IMG border="0" width="1" height="1" src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=2hp/QuudPbo&bids=myid.10000191&type=4&subid=0">

As you can see there are many http: links within this one link so I have noooo clue which to copy/paste in my pretty link plugin. I want to rename it so it reads my website/recommends/product name.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

I have my own product and wish to use e website program here.
Is this system suitable for it? The idea is to drive traffice to the master site from the affiliate website - does that make sense? I am new to this
