cannot login to dashboard(wp-admin)

Hello, i am hoping someone can help me please.
I am having trouble 'logging in'
after moving WP site from outside host to my affillorama premium host.
I have moved 5 WP sites from affillojet to premium hosting without any
troubles after getting advise from Cecille Loorluis.
This time I have moved a WP site from another provider to my
affilorama premium account. All went as predicted after i copied wp
files and sql. files. The site is all good, except i cannot login to
access my dashboard.
When i put in username and password i get a HTTP500 internal server
fault and cannot get access.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi,

I would look at the actual database, it may be that the login value is looking for a directory, file or domain that doesn't exist. Otherwise, just change the password in the DB and you should be good.

Thanks for the reply, and yes it seems like it is looking for a file or something but cannot find it.
I backedup the DB and WP files from another host and installed it onto affilorama, I am not a WP coder, but do you think that in the DB there is a command to goto some site from the old host. I still have the old host there, as i have just changed the nameservers to affilohost until i have the whole site/domain working properly. Do you think this might have something to do with it. I did not want to delete the old hosting account until everything is ok.
thanks for your help.

Hi Marty,

I have forwarded the issue to a member of our technical staff so he can look into the issue further. I am not that technical savvy but I think it has something to do with the values in the wp config. We will respond to your support email and I will update this thread as soon as I hear back from our technical staff.

I appreciate your patience. Have a good day!

Thanks for the reply.
I am not sure about my wp-config being the problem as there are only 4 real adjustable items and i am sure they are all ok. two of these are the db username and db login which are the same, then the password, then the host which is localhost. The original wp-config for the other webhost did have an address that had the DBusername then a website address.com, but i obvidously changed this to localhost for affilohost. I am not sure this is the problem as when i login it does not tell me i have made a mistake with the wrong username or password, as it would stop and tell me of the mistake, but it accepts that and then tell me it cannot find the page it is looking for(HTTP500), but i do not know how to find out what page it is looking for and it doesn't tell me. Because i have not changed the domain name, only the webhost, i am confused.
Thanks for your help, I know you are trying your hardest and any new ideas are appreciated

thanks for the reply. Sorry if this sounds stupid, when you say to replace the password in Db do you mean the 20 odd digit password in mysql DB and not the password in wp-config. If that is correct, what do i change it to, any thing or is there a format for the password or does it do it automattically. This idea sounds really good so any further help would be much appreciated.
Thanks again

Hi Marty,

I remember having a similar issue before and the error was the wp config username and password does not match the ones saved in the MySQL. You might want to check that.

Just a quick suggestion off the top of my head. :)

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hello Cecille, thanks for the reply again.
I have checked wp-config and db username and db name and password are all the same as db sql.
I think if any of these are wrong the site will not work at all, but at the moment the site displays good but no access to dashboard.
The bd username and pasword are the same as ones shown when i first made a new sql at mysql
If i click 'manage' from mysql and open phpmyadmin, then the username is the same but the password is a 20 digit long password. i have tried to put this in for password in wp-config but nothing happened, and then i changed this with my wp-config passwword and then the whole site would no longer work.
Does this make sense or am i missing something.
Thank you for your help once again, but i am still stuck and even after looking at posts at wordpress.org this should not be happening.
Any other ideas would be appreciated
thanks

Hello and thanks to all, i have finally found the problem and fix.
After reading a lot of posts at wordpress.org i finally found a person with the same problem and followed his remedy- plugins causing problems.
I went into C panel and renamed the 'plugins' folder to disable all plugins, and now i cam log into dashboard. YYYEEEHHHHAAAAA!
Then i went and renamed plugins folder and activated plugins one by one and logging and re logging in after each one. I eventually found one that was causing the problem, and i think i have learnt a good rule-- disable all plugins before moving to new webhost.
thanks once again

Hi Marty,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear you can now access your site! :)

Plugins can cause all sorts of trouble but I didn't know they can block access to the site like that. Will take note! :)

Hello Cecille,
yes i think it is interesting how a plugin caused this. i think a plugin was sending it to a site/page from the old host.
Today i logged in and again i could not get access to dashboard. So i again went back to Cpanel renamed plugins folder and instantly got access to dashboard again. I then one by one re activated all plugins and all ok, BUT 1 hour later, while adding a new post and all plugins were activated, I went back and clicked on plugins at dashboard and I got a HTTP 500 fault again. All the rest of dashboard is ok only when i try to access the plugins? I definately still have not found which plugin is the problem yet, but i know how to get access to dashboard so that is ok for the moment.
I will advise you of the outcome when i find the offending plugin, just for future reference for other people.
thanks

Hi Marty,

Thanks for the update! I do hope you have found the incompatible plugin so you do not have to go through all the trouble of renaming the plugins and all that.

Have a good day!
