Affiliate Link Redirects - Dofollow or NoFollow?

Hi everyone,

I am using the affilotheme affiliate redirects but have a few questions about it. I did search in the forum but didnt seem to find any concrete answers so here they are:

1. The redirects through Affilotheme are all Dofollow. (Had a look with various tools) How can I change that to NoFollow while still using redirects?

Otherwise ill have to create <a href> with nofollow tags in each post linking to the exact redirect url.

<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.example.com/Redirect/blabla">BlaBla</a>

I guess that is fine but a mission....

2. Then is it necessary to make redirects NoFollow?

I know it is important to NoFollow direct affiliate links but does the same go for redirects?

Thank you in advance =)

Hi Mischa,

I apologize for the delay in responding to your post. Affiliate links and affiliate redirects should be no follow since you don't really want to pass on link juice to the merchant site. You can use the following code to make your affiliate redirects no follow:

You can use the above code when adding call to action links on your posts.

We are unable to make the redirects created within Affilotheme no follow as doing so might affect the other links on your site that you do not wish to make no follow. To make a link no follow or do follow is your option, this is why you need to do it manually for each link.

Yoast of Wordpress SEO mentions a script you can use to make affiliate links no follow, or to cloak them so they become so. This might help:
How to cloak your affiliate links

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
