Will redirecting an old site affect my siloing?

Hi,

I made a casino website a half a year ago. I was building it for SEO and was focused on many broad terms like 'free online casino', 'online casino', 'online casino bonus' etc. Later I found out how over-ambitious I was considering these terms are highly competitive and tough to get 1st page rankings for.

Now there's still a lot of content there, say 20 articles, and I'd like to 'transfer', 'cut and paste' them to my newer website, which is soley based on the sub keyword 'free online casino'. Also, I'd like to know if I redirect the website, will the links also be applied to the newer website?

Now I'd like to keep the new website silo'ed to the keyword 'free online casino', so I'm thinking of re-writing/wording the articles that are less relevant to the new topic. If I remove the non-relevant articles, will the SE's then 'merge' the two sites and will this be a merger with relevant content?

Basically I don't want to hurt the silo'ing I've been doing for the newer site but I don't want the content, and especially inbound links from the other website not let gone to waste.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards Rudolf

One question I would ask is are you planning on keeping the older site live? If so then you can just create PHP redirects to send visitors who went to the old site for "free online casino" content to your new site. This will also transfer any link juice (PR) to the new site that you had built up with the old one.

If you want to decommission the old site (but keep the domain name) you can just do .htaccess redirect so any links to the old site will automatically redirect to the new site.

It wont damage any siloing on your new site, because siloing is about external links on the page, not incoming.

I do not have any intentions to work on that 'old' site anymore. That's why I'd like to carry it over.

I also do not intend to renew the domain as I won't have any use for it. Will it still keep redirect of have 'transferred' the "juice" then?

Thanks, Rudolf

If thats the case youre better off doing an htaccess redirect - you'll find some instructions here on the code you need.

As soon as the domain expires it will no longer transfer that PageRank link juice to your site; hopefully your new site will have picked up by then. You can learn more about link juice here.

Can you show me your casino websites? Would like to know if you are still has occupation associated with the online casinos? It's been a long time after this post was made, so I'm doubting if you are still there, but will be great if you'll answer me anytime. Thank you!
