Hi contactus1,

"Poke" in Facebook is equal to a "nudge" in Yahoo Messanger. When you send someone a "poke " in Facebook, a message is sent to the person saying you poked them, then they have an option to reply back to you with a message or send back a poke.

I'm not sure if that is still in use or popular in Facebook though.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

The poke is a feature of Facebook whose sole purpose is to attract the attention of another user. The only thing that happens when you poke someone is that this person receives a poke alert on his or her home page. Users can only poke a confirmed friend, someone in a shared network, or a friend of a friend.

When you click "poke" on facebook, you poke the user in question he is notified and it will be registered that you poked the user, it's just a social application, it doesn't do anything.

Poke is something like a hello, the person you are poking will get a notification and can poke you back.

When you poke someone, they'll receive a poke alert on their home page in a form of a notification.
