Starting with just a landing page, is that bad for future SE

Hi! I read somewhere that it's important to have at least 10 articles when starting a new site. The reason being that if I start with only a landing page, that would give me a low ranking, and this would be hard to rectify. Is that correct? I'm looking at doing email marketing and need a landing page and not a lot more initially. In Affiloblueprint you write that it's not recommended to not have a site when doing email marketing, could you please expand on that? All the best, Ann

Hi Ann Ann,

Normally, when you create a one-landing page, you are only promoting this page using paid ads. If you like to incorporate SEO then you will need to add more content to your one-page site/landing page to get this indexed by search engines as you are now probably aware that SEO is more on quality sites with quality content.

You can refer to these content on how to create a good landing page for SEO:

The Affiloblueprint course recommends that you build your own website for affiliate marketing because this way you take total control of the content that you publish and share compared to using 3rd-party/free hosting sites.

Thank you Maryt!! Just to clarify, if I start with a landing page with the intention of adding lots more content later, can that permanently hurt my ranking, or does Google upgrade the rankings as I upgrade my site? Which would mean that I need to create more content before launchin my site. Also, would you use the articles on the site in email maketing or do people mostly read them so everything needs to be unique? Again, VERY grateful for your input!!

There is no problem if you start your website with little content. You can launch the site with 2-3 articles and just add a new one each day or each week, whichever is comfortable to you.

There is also no harm done to websites that upgrades its content, in terms of SEO. And yes, Google loves content. So, the more content you add to your website, the better ranking you will have over time.

IMO, I would not waste time placing my website content to my autoresponder. Instead, I will let my subscribers know that I have published a new content on my website and refer the page link to them in the newsletters.

I hope that helps!
