How to target multiple countries from single site?

Hi folks,

I have a question regarding the country targeting aspect of HREFLANG. Can the single site be targeted with multiple countries by using HREFlang entries?

For an instance, my site is abc.com based in India and I want to target 10 countries such as (UK, UAE, US, AU, SG) etc.

Do I need to use below HREFlang multiple time on the same page for every country?

UK: <link rel="alternate" href="http://www.abc.com" hreflang="en-gb" />
UAE: <link rel="alternate" href="http://www.abc.com" hreflang="en-ae" />
US: <link rel="alternate" href="http://www.abc.com" hreflang="en-us" />

Any suggestions really appreciated.

Thank You!

Yes, you can target multiple geographical locations first of all you need to add country related pages, it's best to use a folder rather than a subdomain, such as '/ae' for UAE.

You will have to add 'Hreflang tags', these tell Google you have the same version of the site targeting different locations

Example Hreflang Tag (UAE):
<link rel="alternate" href="http://abc.com/ae" hreflang="en-ae"/>

Google has info on hreflang.

Use hreflang for language and regional URLs

You need to create a separate page for your website for every country with new and Fresh content, or you can create a single page that covers content for all countries you need to target. But fresh content must be clear justify every location who you targeted. you must have to give a proper explanation for each country and try to keep content unique that will help you more. Content is most important.

To target multiple geographical locations you want to first add country related pages, it's best to use a folder rather than a subdomain, such as '/au' for Australia.

You will then want to add 'Hreflang tags', these tell google you have the same version of the site targetting different locations (won't get burnt for duplicate content).

Example Hreflang Tag (US):
<link rel="alternate" href="http://example.com/us" hreflang="en-us" />

This contains the language and the URL of the location.

Now you want to go into webmaster tools and submit each regional version as a separate web property.

You then want to select the property, select 'Search Traffic' then 'International Targeting'.
