One great way of getting one-way links (which in many ways is better than reciprocal linking) is to write unique articles and submit them to article directories.
That way you get links from each of the article directories back to your website (because you are allowed to place a link back to your site in a box at the bottom of the article), you also get links from any website that chooses to use your article on their website because they have to place your box that links to you at the bottom.
Great article sites to submit to include: ezinearticles.com articlecity.com, goarticles.com.
There are hundreds. I use a service called isnare.com, it costs $2 per article and they submit it to almost every major article site (except ezinearticles.com and a couple of others that you'll have to do manually).
Hope this helps!
All the best!!

ps trading links is good too, but don't expect more than 1/20 to say yes at first. Also Adrian, got any suggestions? You seem to be king of link trades here
