I personally like the inbound link aspect of blogs as well as google authorship. You can also use guest bloggers to expand your audience.

Content is King! Of that there can be no question. But this axiom makes no mention of which kind of content is great, or how better to produce that content. Those two points are left to choose on.

If you're asking which is better for building links : blog or forum? Then I would say forum because it's a large community compared to what you will find in most blogs.

Search engines don't prefer one over the other, it's really the links and the website itself as a whole that they look at when giving weight to links built on that website.

As per my experience, both are equally important for SEO and of the factors for the website ranking and driving traffic.

My advice is simply to do both and double the benefits. It's good to have diversity in your inbound links.

Use both if your market/niche/model fits them in and make sure you set your forum properly to noindex thin pages for example.
They can work pretty well in a duetto when set up correctly indeed.

Its forum posting, if you don’t spam.

Forum sites mainly designed for helping people by answering their query. Nowadays its popular way of link building even can help you drive more traffic.

Always look for a industry specific forum websites. create your complete profile. Put signature if they allow you. start answering people's queries. Don't be spam. if you want to paste your link elsewhere, always search for more relevant topic.

Thanks

Both are important for SEO and marketing. However, I believe that "Content is King". Original, SEO-based content can do wonders on your business, it does not just educate or entice your readers, but make sure that they will turn into valuable customers.

For building authority and driving traffic with SEO, owning a blog is a must. Forums is more for learning and interacting with like-minded people and attracting people back to your blog.

I say 'Blogging' is MUST!

Make it great day!

This generally results in creating two separate communities, which not only doubles your attentions as a site admin (as you should participate in your site’s two-way communication!), but also creates smaller communities at your site. It’s not suggested.

At best, you could carefully craft the message to encourage one specific type of response on-page, and insist all other “off-topic” discussions be held in the forum. That comes at a maintenance time cost, however, as it must be enforced to be effective.

As I can see, it will be more effective to use guest posting on blog not forums, but forums has their pluses too, the audience can be more related to your niche

I would say both are equally good for backlinks. Do Follow links are more effective, but forums can still be a force to reckon when it comes to building relevant links. Spamming of course should be avoided by all means.

I suggest for Forum. There are too many spam forums. Let's set up a tactic. Or you will fail!

Both have their own importance. Both are helpful to getting backlinks if your content is informational and unique. Blogging and forum posting both have a large community to make a relationship with your audience.
