Ezine Articles Backlinks Not Recognized by Google

My site was launched about a month ago.

Posted 1 article per day for 3 weeks to Ezine Articles and about 15 have been approved so far.

I've also done a small amount of link building using comment kahuna.

Google has indexed most of my pages.

SEO Quake (an SEO analyzer) says Yahoo shows about 20 backlinks (including the Ezine Articles), but Google & MSN (Bing) reflect zero backlinks.

Is it normal for Google to lag so far behind...or could I be doing something to invalidate the links?

Thanks, Joe

Don't worry, you are not doing anything wrong and you are not the only one. It's just that Google really takes a long time to show backlinks, if it shows them at all.

Check your analytics and click through rate on those eZine articles. I bet you are getting traffic from them regardless of Google showing them as back links or not. I know this is only part of it, ranking is key (and staying ranked)... but that will also come. :)

I have articles that were posted 3 months ago just now showing up in google. it takes the engines time to index and as the web grows daily it will take longer still to keep everything up to date.

Mates,
Its not something new that google doesn't show backlinks. It depends on which service you are using. For example, google always hides as many backlinks as possible if you other websites to track your backlinks.
I believe you have not tried "Google webmaster tools". Check that out first. My website shows 0 backlinks if i use some other service, but if i use webmaster tools, it shows 37 backlinks. Just another google's marketing strategy. If you have a pagerank more than 1, then you can do it another way. Just type "link:yourwebsitename.com" in google search box and you will get the backlinks to your website. But this option requires page rank 1.
