Blogger VS Wordpress

Hi

Someone I know has asked me whether she needs to convert from Google blogger to wordpress in order to get more traffic to her blog. her G blogger blog is on its own domain and the layout seems very similar to WP, so I don't see why she need to change... any ideas ? She has a lot of followers on FB but very little traffic to her blog... any ideas how she can do so? Would pinterest be an option? She doesnt want to change her domain even though I found a keyword domain with a high search volume for her.Is there some way she could use this domain to drive traffic to her blog of another name ?

Thanks for your help. I cant really advise her because the little I know pertains to the US and UK markets... she is based in Italy so she cant use E-zine etc

Hi Chantelle,

Being in Blogger or in Wordpress does not matter as both are only content management systems. They do not affect ranking, SEO or links to the site. I suggest your friend look at the niche he is in and determine how to best promote his site. It's important to know the niche he is in because not all niches can be promoted in social marketing sites.

If he wants to promote the site through social media, then he needs to set up a page for his site (like an FB page or Twitter account), then through there engage his target market. He can post links to the new content on his site, or share links to helpful information about the niche.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

I think it is because of plugins. I know many bloggers changed their blogging platform from blogger to wordpress because of many useful plugins that help them a lot to make it more interactive and attract traffic. :D

Hi Chantelle,

You have a good point. :) There are more plugins in Wordpress, and it is more customizable. Still, layout and design has little effect on getting traffic. I suppose he could shift to Wordpress so he could use SEO plugins to better optimize his site. I think it's worth a try, but again, the main factor in getting traffic is link building so he needs to work on that aspect of the site as well.

Hope that helps. Have good day!

And even link building is becoming more and more less of a factor! lol Pretty soon the only advice we will need to give beginners wanting more traffic is "Just create quality content!"

Until then, I would go with WordPress because it's far more than just a Blogging platform now, it's a powerful CMS. The only thing better would be to hand code your own system, but even Facebook is just PHP which is what WordPress is!

Anyway if your friend needs to get people to her site off of Facebook she needs good Calls to Action, it's hard to get people off of Facebook. You need to "bribe" them with something like a coupon, free gift, etc., then TELL them to go to the site because they will NOT go there on their own, Facebook is where they "play" it's hard to get humans to stop playing especially if they're having fun lol.

Use Pinterest if it is a good fit with your niche, one of my writers wrote a free Pinterest guide:

Blogger and wordpress both are called self-hosted blog. Blogger is free, quick and easy to use. With blogger we don’t need to purchase a domain name or hosting. It is very user friendly interface. Whereas Wordress is easy to use and fully control on HTML. Some themes are no cost and some are cost a bit. With wordpress We can also customize our blog .
Have a good day :)

Word press and blogger both are useful for making blogs. However word press is providing more plug ins to make your own site on its themes. You can use your own domain name to develop your site.
