Anchor text in articles

Following blueprint 2.0.

My article titles have my keywords in them. I am thinking that my anchor text on my links should also
have the keywords, or should this be the product name?

Or do I do some of each?

In looking through WOW blackbook, I can see Mark's anchor text referring to the product and then later a
smaller font link with the keywords.

I remember seeing this in a video, but can't remember which week.

Hopefully someone will save me some searching?

Thanks

Hi Stacie,
Well you are correct in both ways.
Yes, the anchor text should be a keyword.
But you can have a product name as anchor text and also as a matching keyword ( That you want to target ).
For example: superduper dog training or superduper dog training review

Hope that helps.

Hi. Yes. Definitely always have your keywords as anchored text. But as Troy stated, you can have your product hyperlinked as well. The key is not to over do it with your hyperlinks or your article will look spammy.

Stacie right now I do a little bit of the Mr K backlink strategy and I just use 1 anchor text (which becomes the backlink to my money site) for each article. Troy is right on the spot. You can mix things up with your anchor text but remember that anchor text should NOT be more than 5 or 6 words within it. Say my keyword is "wow gold guide", I will have an article written that will have 1% keyword density but will have only one of the keyword phrase as the anchor text. Maybe something like "The best wow gold guide" or maybe even "#1 wow gold guide today". I remember Mark said to mix it up a little and not make all your anchor text the exact keyword phrase so the SEs dont see it as spammy.
