Where Is A Good Place To Start If You Are A NEWBIE?

I have yet to start a web site or anything like that. I am very interested in this online affiliate marketing thing.

Also.. I'm not what you would call computer SAVVY.

I am just looking for real advice on how someone that has no experience with starting a website, or affiliate marketing,
should go about it.

Any advise will be a great help to me. Please keep in mind i am a complete laymen when it comes to this. I barely know how to get online lol.

Thanks Alot

Hey Ryan, 3 years ago, I was in the same boat you are in right now. There is a lot of awesome tips here in the Affilorama free lessons that you can use to get a basic understanding. However, if you really want a step by step action plan that gives you a lot of hand holding, I recommend starting with Mark's AffiloBlueprint. it literally shows you every step that you need to make your site successful.

If you choose to invest in the training, which I recommend, I suggest you get in and follow through completely on the program. don't buy anything else until you make it work, and keep focusing on progress one step at a time. If you do, you can get a site up and running following the training. there is a lot to learn, so be patient and give yourself time.

Yes, Ryan, I would completely agree with James.

Affilorama is a great place to start if you are a total newbie. I started here myself back in 2009 and learned everything I need to know about wordpress, keyword research, SEO, etc. to get started.

AffiloBlueprint is an excellent course. It's what I used to get started (and I believe it's what James got started with as well). Anyway, I think that AffiloBlueprint is currently not for sale since they are updating the course right now, but the free lessons on Affilorama are a great place to get started.

Plus, there's a tight-knit community here in the forum to help you if you ever get stuck along the way :)

Hi ryanbrady04,

You're lucky in a way to be starting now, when most area concerning affiliate marketing have been covered and you have something to follow. These days you no longer have to be internet/computer savvy to be able to build a site and drive traffic to it. There are tools and applications that make these less complicated.

We have free lessons that you can follow. I suggest you go over the introduction to affiliate marketing first followed by market research, content creation and then search engine optimization. You can then go over the lessons in site building and PPC.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Welcome to affiliate marketing, Ryan.

Aside from our lessons, we have two training courses that you can choose from which will show you how to set up and run a successful affiliate website. One is AffiloJetpack and the other is AffiloBlueprint. AffiloBlueprint teaches you the step by step of affiliate marketing, while AffiloJetpack gives you the content to set up a website faster.

All the best! :)

I cant wait to give it a try. Me and my fiance are going to go over the lessons togther.
Between the two of us, hopefully we will be able to glean some understanding of this.

Like i said, ive never even started a website nor do i have any product or content for the site.
I've seen and read about so many people (and know a few indirectly) that have had fair to moderate success, and people that are actually making a ton of money doing this.

Right now i have to much time on my hands and not enough funds. Im really excited about the prospect of learning all the ends and outs of this thing.

Thanks for the responses and advise! Any help is greatly apreciated.

Congratulations Ryan for stepping forward and having interest in online business. That alone is already an accomplishment as not everyone has the same spirit and interest as you have now.

You're lucky that there are a lot of resources on how to start with building a website and affiliate business. Just follow what everyone here is telling you. There are a lot of good information here, especially watching more Mark Ling's video tutorials. Good luck!

It's great that you have plenty of time in your hands right now. There's a lot of information to go through, especially if you're starting from scratch so you can learn new material and apply them at your own pace. Don't worry about not having enough funds to buy a course or start right now. If you're a complete newbie and just starting, you can try your hand at using Wordpress and setting up a free blog. Learn as much as you can first.

When you do get the funds and are ready to buy a course, make sure to choose the best that fits you and your budget. Most importantly, stick with that course and follow it through. Do not get distracted and buy other courses or applications until you see results in your own site.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Also, if you want advice from experienced people in affiliate and online marketing, you may want to explore more the blog section since a lot of posts here are quite useful and handy.

For a newbie, you may want to read Mark's post on Personal Video: My Core Money-making Fundamentals and also JMPruitt's The Biggest Secret to Online Success for some inspiration.

All the best!

Hi Ryan,

Welcome to Affilorama!

The best place to start in Affilorama if you are a newbie is here in the Forum. It is always good to know the people who are with you on your journey. As you can see if you call you will be answered. No one is left alone here in Affilorama. With the group who answered your call you are in good hands.

Best Wishes!

Everyone is right this is a good place to start, I go to a lot of forms to see what is going on and this one here is a good one. If you ask a question here if no one knows the answer often someone will say they don't know but will try and find out. But my advice is take your time there is so much to learn and most people here will say it can become overwhelming. Just do everything the best you can do, don't cut corners on anything, and don't do any of the sneaky SEO things that are out there. Don't get discouraged and just let things happen, there are a lot of people out there selling everything under the sun saying you will be making money in a week and that isn't going to happen. Most of the time you will be lucky to be able to find you site in search results for a month and that is normal, You should have a long term plan and try and make this your main income so you can do whatever you want to in life not try and make a fast buck for a while. Also don't burn yourself out by spending all day everyday reading and learning. It is ok to treat it like a job so work 8 hours a day and take the weekends off.

You can do a course in web designing or can look for content related to newbie on the internet. There is a lot of material in the form of pdf files or videos on how to start designing a website which are for free. This matter can be very helpful to you and would help you to avoid silly mistakes that can cost you a lot in the end.
