Should I Hide My URL in Google Adwords?

Hi,

As a newbie, I understand using a landing page is probably better than direct linking. I'd better hide the destination URL. However I also heard Google doesn't approve the use of masking, cloaking and redirecting. But no one seems to worry about Google's policy in this regard. Can someone once for all get me straight on this subject and recommend a good method compatible with Google's policy?

 Hi Warren!

You would not want to mask, cloak, or redirect PPC links to your website because this is indeed against Google's policy and they will not approve your PPC campaign ads if you do it.

Masking, cloaking and redirecting your affiliate links is alright. Your affiliate links would be on your website and will not affect page rank nor violate any Google policy.

If you do want to direct link, the best idea is to set up a redirect. For example, instead of sending people to your affiliate URL, you set up a redirect url like http://www.catanddogcare.com/recommends/stop-barking.

 how do i set up the redirects in wp? should i set them like ppc pages so they do not show up in sidebar and dont get indexed?

 James,

Mark (or someone else) can tell me if I'm wrong, but I think what you can do is create a text file with the php redirect in it, and saved as index.php, then on your web server just create a folder to put it in and upload the file to that folder.
