Looking for print ad critique

Hi,

Would you let me know your comments on this ad posted https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B2iZd0 ... EJWX3VDQjg

The ad aims to encourage conservative decision makers to change their approach and adopt modern marketing tools.

I have 2 main concerns:

1. Do the illustrations undermine/compromise the "business image" of my company?

2. How motivating do you find the copyright to be? notably:
- what's missing
- what's good about it
- what changes would you recommend

3. Please rate the ad (1: very poor and 10: excellent)
- creative
- copyright

Thanks for your time

I would get rid of the phrases on top: Restructure etc and Let us multiply etc and focus on the old school/innovative problem solver texts. I also wouldn't make the text underneath the images uniform. I would make them all look the same, but i would increase the pixel size of the "key" words by one or two so that they stand out but still appear one with the rest of the text.

I would give the ad a 6 for creativity and a 7 for the copy. I don't think it undermines your company's business image but the ad's approach appears weak to me. A more catchy phrase perhaps?

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

I love the illustration, however, I think that the pictures don't really tell everything that your Company does. Yes, there is the message that you use technology to get things done. But what about helping your clients in achieving the right product for the right market? Additionally, the illustration does not really tell how you can "multiply" revenues. The drawing talks more about using technology to make the job easier and faster. How about a "picture" of how you can really help clients sell?

I think that besides the "method" try to also add something that will tell how you can deliver results. There are companies using technology and updated tools, but only a few deliver. So I guess, clients would really want to see more of how you can deliver results.

Overall, I love the illustration and the "idea" behind it. It is simple yet very meaningful that it does not even have to have the text below it to tell the story. Other than what is missing, the illustration looks great.

fnconsulting wrote:- what changes would you recommend

- maybe you can put your company logo and details as header just to highlight your Company
- the 3 periods on "restructure.." and "Let us.." are unnecessary, so just eliminate those
- Innovative Problem-solver change to Innovative Problem-Solver (you have to be consistent if you like to put all first letters capital or all small letters)
- With your content below, you might want to use bullet points to highlight the messages you want clients to know. The last paragraph should sound "convincing" so it should have punch to it. Try to revise "cutting edge sales ..." into something that is interesting and catchy. The last paragraph seemed to be incomplete.

fnconsulting wrote:3. Please rate the ad (1: very poor and 10: excellent)

- creative- 7 (a bit missing on illustrating your brand)
- copyright- 6 (should be more compelling)[/quote]

Hopefully, the above can provide you ideas. Good luck!

In addition to the suggestions above, I recommend changing your text from 3 columns to 2 columns to create a symmetrical balance with your image.

I suggest that you also state a problem, then a solution. ie:

Dear Respondents,

I'm preparing a few alternative catch-phrases, and will be posting them in 10 or so days. Your comments were helpful. Watch this space!

Hi fnconsulting,

I would like to be as much honest and helpful here so I will be direct. I do not like any of the catch phrases you have here. One main reason is most of the phrases need to be corrected grammatically. Also, you should avoid using "highfalutin" words and just stick to simplest and easy to understand words. Catch phrases should be something that is easy to understand and doesn't require too much effort for the person to comprehend. So make your phrases simple and use simple words. However, you should also take note that although you are using simple words and phrases, it does not necessarily mean that they do not mean much or they are not "empowering". Great and catchy phrases depend on how you execute and compose them. Even one word used correctly can be empowering. :)

I get your ideas but they are not properly written. I will get back to you on your list and try to rewrite them.
