Amount of Links

Hi Guys,

I would like to know if there is a tool out there that could tell you exactly how many links a site has. Lets say for example you want to rank for a keyword like "How to lose belly fat". SO before you create your site you could know exactly how many links you would need to be number one for "how to lose belly fat". I hope that makes sense.

Hey mate,

Backlinks aren't the only thing that you need to take into account- I sure wish it were. However, you can find out how many links a site has here:

www.majesticseo.com

I believe traffic travis also uses this source to generate backlink information.

 Hi,

You can take a look at Traffic Travis- http://www.traffictravis.com/. It offers a free version for you to fully use to check out a site's backlinks and also SEO analysis.

For simpler tool, you may want to check out Backlinkwatch- http://www.backlinkwatch.com/

Also, when it comes to ranking for a keyword, try to focus getting quality links rather than quantity. With the latest algo changes in Google, it is good to get quality backlinks :)

I think you should go for opensiteexplorer which is traditionally very popular and most of the online marketers use this tools for competitors site analyse.

 I am not sure if there is really any place to find out how many total backlinks you have. I use many different places to check my links and they all show me different amounts. I think some count many links from one site as 1 link even though you may have as many as 20 from that site, they may consider only one link per site.

Others may try and count everything but might not have access to them all. Others may count links that have dropped off because maybe a site is no longer around but for some reason the link information is still around. Here are a few examples, my site is a little over 3 years yet One link checker says I have 21 backlinks total and only 23 pages indexed, another says i have 233 yahoo links 7 google links and 92 pages indexed and another site says I have 980 links and 101 pages indexed.

When I check traffic travis they tell me I have 4501 links so as you can see it seems next to impossible to find out exactly how many links anyone really has. I kind of stopped worrying about it a long time ago I just keep doing the same link building I have always done.
