ClickBank Made Simple: Set Up, Grab Links, Get Paid

Launch Pad: Three Quick Wins to Start Strong
  • Choose one goal for your page: Ask yourself: Do I want readers to buy, start a free trial, or leave their email? Pick one and stick to it. Then use a matching button like “See today’s price”, “Start free trial”, or “Get my free guide.”
  • Say your recommendation up front: Start your article with 2-3 simple sentences: who this is for, the biggest benefit, and what to click next. Example: “If you’re new to meal planning, [Product] is the easiest place to start - simple recipes, done-for-you lists. Click here to try it free.”
  • Label every link so you learn faster: When you make a HopLink, add a short tag so you know where clicks came from (e.g., top-button, pros-cons, footer). Check your results once a week. Keep the spots that get clicks and move or remove the ones that don’t.

Getting started with affiliate marketing can feel overwhelming, but ClickBank keeps your first steps simple. You can sign up without already having a website, browse a huge marketplace of digital and physical products, and generate your affiliate links (called HopLinks) in minutes. This guide walks you through the full beginner-friendly setup - creating your account, adding your “account nickname,” choosing payout methods, finding offers worth promoting, and grabbing your links the right way. You’ll also learn how to avoid common signup issues, how to choose products that actually convert, and a few practical habits that help you reach your first commissions faster.

Why ClickBank Still Wins in 2026

If you’re new, ClickBank is one of the easiest places to start because the barrier to entry is low. You don’t need a site to explore offers and you can figure out the dashboard on day one. The biggest improvement in recent years is the account structure. Today you create a single primary account that holds your personal details, tax info, payment settings, and security. Under that login, you add one or more account nicknames. Think of the primary account as your home base and each nickname as a workspace for a specific niche or project. Most beginners create one nickname per niche (for example, homefitness01 and emailtools01) so reporting stays clean and you can see at a glance which niche is earning.

The Marketplace also feels friendlier than it used to. You can search by category, quickly scan offer pages and affiliate resources, and grab a HopLink with one click on Promote. Adding a short tracking ID (like blog-top, yt-short, or email-june) when you generate the link lets you see which placements are actually working. On the payout side, ClickBank supports multiple methods - direct deposit where available, wire transfer, Payoneer, and checks - and you get to set your own payment threshold so you’re not waiting forever for your first payout. Put these pieces together and you’ve got a beginner-ready platform that lets you move from “curious” to “live” without a complex setup.

Spark by ClickBank: Shortcut or Nice-to-Have?

Spark by ClickBank is an optional training program created by ClickBank. It’s designed for people who want structure instead of stitching together random tutorials. Inside, you’ll find step-by-step lessons on picking offers, setting up your links, writing simple promos, and avoiding the classic rookie mistakes. If you like checklists, clear milestones, and a community vibe, Spark can shorten your ramp-up.

If you already know the basics or you’re more of a DIY learner, you can absolutely succeed without Spark. Use the free help docs inside your account, follow this guide, and build a simple weekly routine: pick a niche you can talk about, shortlist a few relevant offers, publish one helpful comparison or review with a clear “what to do next,” and watch your earnings per click (EPC) for the next couple of weeks. Keep the winner, swap the laggard, and repeat. Whether you choose Spark or not, the key is implementation. One small, helpful piece of content published this week beats ten hours of videos you never apply.

Step-by-Step: Create your ClickBank account

Before you start: use your real details, turn off any VPN, and have access to your email inbox (you’ll need to click a confirmation link for payments).

1) Go to ClickBank and create your primary login

  • Click Sign Up and enter your name, email, and a strong password.
  • Use accurate info - mismatches can trigger a temporary review.

2) Verify your email (if prompted)

  • Check your inbox and confirm your email so your account fully activates.

3) Complete your profile in the dashboard

  • Open Settings/Profile and add your address, country, and contact details.
  • Save each screen. You’ll see more menu items unlock as you go—totally normal.

4) Enter tax details (based on your region)

  • Fill in any required tax information (e.g., W-8/W-9 data).
  • Save. This helps prevent payout delays later.

5) Choose how you’ll get paid

  • Go to Payment Settings and select a payout method:
    • Direct deposit/ACH (where supported)
    • Wire transfer
    • Payoneer
    • Paper check
  • Pick your payment frequency and set a minimum payout threshold (start modest so you see your first payout sooner).

6) Confirm payment changes via email

  • Click the confirmation link ClickBank sends after you edit payment settings.
  • If you don’t click it, your changes won’t apply.

7) Save and sanity-check

  • Reopen Payment Settings to confirm your method and threshold are set.
  • Ensure your profile shows the correct address and contact info.

You’re set! Your primary account is ready. Next, create an account nickname (your promoter ID) so ClickBank can track your affiliate promotions and credit commissions correctly.

Your Account Nickname: The ID That Gets You Paid

Your account nickname is the ID ClickBank uses to track your promotions and credit your commissions. You’ll create it from inside your primary account:

  1. Log in and click the Accounts tab.
  2. Click Create Account.
  3. Choose Affiliate (you’re promoting other people’s products).
  4. Enter a nickname and click Sign Up.

That’s it. You can create multiple nicknames under one primary account, which is handy if you plan to promote in different niches. Keep nicknames short, brand-safe, and easy to recognize when you’re scanning reports. Something like homefitness01 or budgetcooking01 is perfect.

Marketplace Walkthrough: Find Offers That Fit

The Marketplace is where you’ll spend a lot of time, especially during your first month. The goal is simple: find offers that fit your audience and convert with your style of content. Here’s a practical way to approach it without getting lost.

Start by choosing the category that matches your niche. Open a few promising offers in new tabs and read their sales pages as if you were a buyer. Does the headline feel believable? Are the benefits clear and specific? Is there a straightforward guarantee? If something feels off to you, it will likely feel off to your audience too.

Next, look for the vendor’s affiliate/JV page. Sellers who invest in their affiliate resources - email swipes, banners, product images, and multiple landing pages usually invest in conversion rate optimization as well. You don’t need to use everything they provide, but it’s a good sign when they support affiliates with tested assets.

When you’re on the fence between two offers, let data decide. The Marketplace shows general signals, but the most useful metric for you is EPC on your content. Pick two or three offers that make sense, place them carefully in your content and track earnings per click over the next couple of weeks. Keep the one that gives you the best EPC, then test a new challenger against the winner. This simple “ladder” approach prevents analysis paralysis.

Finally, check the refund/guarantee language and consider the landing page style. Some niches do better with a video sales letter (VSL), while others convert on a text-heavy page. If the vendor offers both, generate separate HopLinks for each lander and label them with different tracking IDs (vsl, letter) so you can see which one performs better with your audience.

Your affiliate link on ClickBank is called a HopLink. When someone clicks your HopLink and buys, ClickBank attributes the sale to you and pays the commission. Generating one is straightforward:

  1. From the Marketplace, open an offer you like and click Promote.
  2. Choose the account nickname you’ll use for this niche.
  3. Add a tracking ID (optional but highly recommended) to label where the click is coming from—something like blog-top, review-cta, yt-short, or newsletter-june.
  4. Click Generate HopLinks, then copy the URL.

Before you paste that link into your content, test it in an incognito/private window. Make sure it loads the correct sales page and that your nickname appears in the URL parameters. This quick check saves headaches later.

Some vendors also provide a dedicated affiliate or JV portal. There, you may find different HopLink formats for different landing pages (e.g., a VSL, a text sales letter, or a webinar registration). If those options exist, generate a unique HopLink for each lander and label your tracking IDs clearly so you can identify the winner in your reports.

Link placement matters. A lot. People skim, so your job is to make the “next step” obvious without being pushy. A reliable pattern is to lead with a short verdict at the top of your article - two or three sentences that say who the product is for, who it’s not for, and the one benefit that matters most. Place a single, clear call-to-action right after this verdict (“See current price,” “Start your 14-day trial,” “Get your free quote”). Repeat the CTA after key sections where readers naturally decide (for example, after your pros and cons, after your comparison table, and at the final summary).

On short videos and social posts, keep your CTA tight and aligned to the action that makes sense for that format. If your post is a quick tip, link to a lead magnet or a free trial rather than a long-form sales page. If your post is a direct product recommendation, send viewers straight to the sales page. In every case, include a clear affiliate disclosure near your link. It builds trust and keeps you compliant with platform and legal guidelines.

Getting Paid in 2026 (Methods, Timing, Thresholds)

ClickBank supports several payout methods: direct deposit/ACH in supported countries, international wire transfer, Payoneer, and paper checks. Choose the method that works best for your region and banking setup from inside your payment settings. You can also select how often you want to be paid and set a minimum threshold for payouts. When you change payment details, ClickBank will send a confirmation email. You must click the link in that email for the change to take effect, so keep an eye on your inbox.

If you’re new and eager to see your first payout, set a lower threshold initially. As your earnings stabilize, you can raise the threshold to reduce the number of transfers. If a specific payout option doesn’t appear for your country, pick an available method (Payoneer or wire are common choices for international affiliates) and revisit your settings later as availability expands.

If Signup Says “No”: Fixes That Work

ClickBank operates in many countries, but not every country. If you don’t see your country listed during signup, it means ClickBank isn’t available there yet. You won’t be able to create an account today, and you should consider reputable alternatives in the meantime. If your country is listed but you still hit a roadblock, here are the most common issues and how to handle them:

  • “We cannot offer you an account at this time.” This message appears when ClickBank’s automated checks flag your signup details or device signals. Double-check your information for accuracy, avoid VPNs, and contact ClickBank support through the Help Center for next steps. Be prepared to verify your identity and location.
  • Traveling or location mismatch. If you’re signing up from a different country than the address on your application or you’re using a VPN the system may ask for extra verification. Temporarily turn off VPNs and make sure your address and phone number match your documents. If you’re still blocked, contact support and explain your situation clearly.
  • Payout method not available in your region. If your preferred method doesn’t show up, select another supported method for now and ask support whether your region is scheduled to receive additional options.
  • Account disabled or under review. Follow the instructions in the message or in the help docs. Respond promptly if support asks for documents. The faster you provide accurate verification, the sooner your account can be reinstated.

If you can’t access the in-account chat yet, you can still reach out via the Help Center and email support. When you do, include the exact message you saw, the country you’re signing up from, and whether you were traveling or using a VPN.

Rookie Mistakes (So You Only Learn Them Once)

Skipping the nickname step. You can browse the Marketplace with just your primary login, but you won’t be able to promote as an affiliate until you create an account nickname. Do it immediately after you set your payment method to avoid confusion later.

Pasting the wrong link. Never paste a vendor’s raw URL into your content. Always use your HopLink, and add a tracking ID so you know exactly where each click originated. Test your link in an incognito window to confirm it resolves correctly.

Chasing commission percentage instead of EPC. A 75% commission sounds amazing until you realize the offer doesn’t convert for your audience. Let earnings per click guide your decisions. The offer that consistently gives you higher EPC is the one to feature.

Ignoring mobile experience. If most of your clicks come from phones (and in many niches they do), preview the vendor’s landing page on your phone. Slow load times, tiny buttons, and cluttered pages kill conversion.

Hiding disclosures. Place a short, clear affiliate disclosure near your links on every platform. It builds trust and helps keep you compliant.

Letting payment settings go stale. If you change banks, move countries, or want to adjust your threshold, update your settings and click the confirmation email. No confirmation, no change.

ClickBank FAQs

No. You can create an account and explore the Marketplace without a website. That said, having a simple site and/or newsletter gives you more control and tends to convert better over time.

It’s your unique affiliate link on ClickBank. When someone purchases through your HopLink, the sale is attributed to you and you earn a commission.

In the Marketplace, click Promote on the offer you want, pick your account nickname, add an optional tracking ID, and click Generate HopLinks. Copy the link and place it in your content with a clear disclosure.

Choose your payout method in settings. ClickBank supports direct deposit (where available), wire transfer, Payoneer, and paper checks. Set your threshold and frequency, and confirm any changes via the email ClickBank sends you.

If your country isn’t available, you won’t be able to create an account today. Consider alternative affiliate networks you can work with now, and check back with ClickBank periodically in case availability expands.

Not necessarily. It usually means the system flagged something during signup. Recheck your details, avoid VPNs, and contact support through the Help Center with a clear explanation and any requested documents.

No. It’s optional training. It can help if you prefer a structured path, but you can succeed by following the steps in this guide, using official help docs, and building a simple weekly publishing and optimization routine.

Wrapping Up (and Your Next Step)

You’ve now got everything you need to get moving: open your primary account, add a nickname, pick a payout method, shortlist a few offers, and generate your first HopLinks with clear CTAs and simple tracking IDs. Don’t wait for perfect. Publish one helpful piece this week, place your links where decisions happen, and let EPC guide your next tweak.

I followed the steps you've provided above but after I filled up my banking information and proceed to the next step, Clikbank says,

"Thank you for your interest in ClickBank!Unfortunately, we cannot offer you an account at this time. Regrettably, we are unable to make any exceptions at this time".

I've done so many times but still get the same result.

Please write to [email protected] and explain your situation. This isn’t something for their regular customer support.

If you are in a country that is not on the signup form, then sorry you are not eligible for a clickbank account.

If you are from a country that is on the signup form, but you are not in that country right now, e.g. You are in USA but you are logging in from Canada, then you will need to email [email protected] to explain your situation, and then they will email you back for more details to prove your legitimacy (photo ID, etc).

I have a huge problem with ClickBank. I am a US resident but I am currently in Hungary, Europe. I tried to sign up several times, but the site rejects my signup, saying that "no exceptions can be made". I tried this with American Address, phone number, Hungarian address, phone number, and I can't figure out why. Any ideas?

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the informative article.

I have a question:
If I find a niche (by assumption, colic relief) that is profitable but the training program for colic relief on ClickBank has a gravity of 0.

should I promote that ClickBank product or look for another training program for colic relief elsewhere to promote?
Cecille Loorluis 8 years ago
A gravity of zero on ClickBank does not necessarily mean the product isn't making any money. It could be that it's a new product and not a lot of affiliates are promoting it yet.

You can try promoting the product and see how it goes. You can also promote another product in the same niche with a higher gravity and see how the two compare with regards to sales.

Hi Mark,

1.What is the most efficient form/platform of promoting a product and earn commission?
2.Which markets to target?
Cecille Loorluis 8 years ago
I don't think there is one platform that is the best among the rest. These affiliate networks may look as if they operate the same way, but they have their own payment methods, products and unique system of tracking clicks and sales.

We have always recommended ClickBank because they have one of the most newbie-friendly interfaces, and it is relatively easy to sign up (you're not required to have a website or a specific amount of traffic)

As for which markets to target, the best ones are those in their late twenties to late forties. People in this age group have the capacity to pay.

Hope that helps. All the best!

Hi, this is a nice and useful article. my 75% revenue comes from affiliate and adsense business.
Svetoslav Stoyanov 8 years ago
Yea, I got the same problem:
"Thank you for your interest in ClickBank!Unfortunately, we cannot offer you an account at this time. Regrettably, we are unable to make any exceptions at this time".

I wrote to their customer service and things got even better:
"Unfortunately, you have triggered several flags in our Fraud system and we cannot offer you an account at this time. For security reasons, we are unable to release specifics regarding why the system has declined the transaction"

I am from Bulgaria (its in the list), I am currently in Bulgaria, never done advertising, made a fresh email for the courses in Affilorama and i have "triggered several flags" that they dont even want to tell which...Outrageous!

I read alot of people have the SAME problem and noone have a solution.
Good I saw this threat and saw Mark mention the need to email [email protected] about this.
I just wrote them, will see if there is a result.
Thanks

Hi Mark,

Could you please provide some effective free traffic sources to promote click bank products.

Further please advise if we go in paid resources then which is the most effective one? either is it google adwords or is it google display ads?

Thanks
Cecille Loorluis 8 years ago
Hi Yasmeen,

There is no one method that is sure to get traffic. It's always a combination of different methods, both paid and free.

If getting paid traffic, we recommend solo ads or media buys, but again, it's a combination of a paid method and free methods that work best in getting regular traffic to the website.

Hope that helps. All the best!

My only gripe with CB is their payment method being Cheque Only which is a pain for non-US affiliates. Personally I prefer networks like Market Health and Sell Health and other vendors who direct credit to Paypal, Skrill or Payoneer. Why can't CB do likewise?
