How to Set Up a Clickbank Account (and where to get your affiliate links)

Setting up a Clickbank account isn’t all that hard. In this short article, I’m going to show you how to set one up for yourself step-by-step and also where to grab your affiliate links from.

As a background, ClickBank is an online retailer used by thousands of product owners around the world to process their transactions and pay their affiliates.

The Clickbank Marketplace contains products from a wide range of niches. These niches include: Self help, Dating/Relationships advice for men and women, Weight Loss, Health, Cooking Recipes, Animal Training, Fiction Writing, Wealth Building, Software, and many more.

In order to promote these products you’re going to need a ClickBank account first, so that they can track the sales to you and pay you your commissions.

Once you have your Clickbank account set up you’ll be able to link to any of these products and earn great commissions whenever somebody purchases that product via clicking on your link.

Here’s how to set up your Clickbank account:

Step 1: Go to ClickBank.com

This is no brainer, but just to make sure we’re all on the same page here, it’s ClickBank.com where you want to sign up at.

Step 2: Click on create account

Click on “Create Account” at the top right of the page.

Step 3: Enter your details

After clicking “Create Account”, it’s then going to take you to the page below where you enter all of your personal details.

There are three steps to sign up, which requires you to enter your details about your personal information, banking information and account information.

NOTE: After entering your details in the “Banking Information” section, be sure to have read the client contract and agreed to the terms and conditions. Once you’ve done this, complete the reCAPTCHA  challenge.

Step 4: Submit Your Account Registration

Click “submit” after you’ve filled in the relevant information in all sections.

When you’ve done this a client survey like the one below will appear. Fill in the survey, then click “Submit Survey”.

Step 5: Confirm Your Email

To complete your account creation, ClickBank will send you a confirmation link to the e-mail address you put in step 3.

Simply click on the link in the e-mail to confirm your address and you’re account is fully created.

Time for your affiliate links...

Now, if you wish to start promoting ClickBank products, you’re going to need your affiliate links. This is the unique URL (also known as Hoplink) which you give to subscribers on your list, visitors on your blog page or whichever platform you’re using, to go and buy the product you’re promoting.

This unique URL allows ClickBank to track whether or not a customer bought the product through your link.

You can access them through a vendors affiliates JV page or directly from ClickBank. For the purpose of this article I’m going to show you how to get one through an affiliates JV page using a ClickBank product called Total Money Magnetism...

First, I’m going to head to the products home page. I’m then going to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click on “affiliates”.

It’s then going to take me to a page where I must sign up for Total Money Magnetism’s affiliate program to access my affiliate links.

All you have to do here is enter your full name, your ClickBank ID (or account nickname), your email address and your website if you have your own.

Once signed up, I can then access the affiliate resource page. This is a page which gives me a bunch of cool resources I can use to promote my product. It has stuff like email swipes, page banners, and pictures.

To find my affiliate link all I have to do is scroll down and find the section where it show me my links.

Please bare in mind that you’re going to have different links for different sales pages. One for video sales page and one for a sales letter page etc.

For this particular offer I have to place my user ID (or account nickname) into where it tells me to put.

So if we took the link for the Total Money Magnetism VSL, my link would be:

http://www.totalmoneymagnetism.com/?aff=affilorama&tid=track&p=home

NOTE: The way in which you get your links for affiliate programs may differ. Some may ask you to type in your ID and it will generate the links for you instead. Don’t worry though; you’re going to end up with the same affiliate links.

Promote, promote, promote!

Now you’ve got your own hoplink, it’s time to promote the product. Depending on the strategy you’re using, make sure you always use your hoplink to redirect people to the product sales page.

If you don’t, ClickBank won’t be able to track that a sale was made through you, which means you don’t get your commission.

Now you’ve learned how to create a ClickBank account and where to find your affiliate links, you can get started right away by promoting offers and earning commissions! To find out how to find products to promote, have a quick read of this which will show you exactly how to do this.

In this lesson you’ve learned:

  • How to sign up for a free account on Clickbank
  • How to sign up for an affiliate programme on a Clickbank product
  • How to access affiliate resources
  • How to find your affiliate links that you can use to promote affiliate offers

I followed the steps you've provided above but after I filled up my banking information and proceed to the next step, Clikbank says,

"Thank you for your interest in ClickBank!Unfortunately, we cannot offer you an account at this time. Regrettably, we are unable to make any exceptions at this time".

I've done so many times but still get the same result.

Please write to abuse@clickbank.com and explain your situation. This isn’t something for their regular customer support.

If you are in a country that is not on the signup form, then sorry you are not eligible for a clickbank account.

If you are from a country that is on the signup form, but you are not in that country right now, e.g. You are in USA but you are logging in from Canada, then you will need to email abuse@clickbank.com to explain your situation, and then they will email you back for more details to prove your legitimacy (photo ID, etc).

I have a huge problem with ClickBank. I am a US resident but I am currently in Hungary, Europe. I tried to sign up several times, but the site rejects my signup, saying that "no exceptions can be made". I tried this with American Address, phone number, Hungarian address, phone number, and I can't figure out why. Any ideas?

I signed up for your affiliate program, but I cannot do anything, because the confirmation email hasn't arrived.

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for the informative article.

    I have a question:
If I find a niche (by assumption, colic relief) that is profitable but the training program for colic relief on ClickBank has a gravity of 0.

should I promote that ClickBank product or look for another training program for colic relief elsewhere to promote?

    cecille.l257 days ago

A gravity of zero on ClickBank does not necessarily mean the product isn't making any money. It could be that it's a new product and not a lot of affiliates are promoting it yet.

You can try promoting the product and see how it goes. You can also promote another product in the same niche with a higher gravity and see how the two compare with regards to sales.

    Hi,

I did try to sign up from India but getting below message. What could be the reason? My country is in the list of sign up form.

"Unfortunately, we cannot offer you an account at this time. Regrettably, we are unable to make any exceptions."

    Thanks

I tried to set up mu clickBank account, on the process i noticed my country Nigeria is not listed among the countries. What will i do? Is it that they don't accept registrations from Nigerians?

    cecille.l257 days ago

ClickBank doesn't allow clients from Nigeria at this time.

    Hi Mark,

1.What is the most efficient form/platform of promoting a product and earn commission?
    2.Which markets to target?

    cecille.l253 days ago

I don't think there is one platform that is the best among the rest. These affiliate networks may look as if they operate the same way, but they have their own payment methods, products and unique system of tracking clicks and sales.

We have always recommended ClickBank because they have one of the most newbie-friendly interfaces, and it is relatively easy to sign up (you're not required to have a website or a specific amount of traffic)

As for which markets to target, the best ones are those in their late twenties to late forties. People in this age group have the capacity to pay.

Hope that helps. All the best!

Hi, this is a nice and useful article. my 75% revenue comes from affiliate and adsense business.

  • Reply Svetoslav Stoyanov251 days ago

Yea, I got the same problem:
"Thank you for your interest in ClickBank!Unfortunately, we cannot offer you an account at this time. Regrettably, we are unable to make any exceptions at this time".

I wrote to their customer service and things got even better:
"Unfortunately, you have triggered several flags in our Fraud system and we cannot offer you an account at this time. For security reasons, we are unable to release specifics regarding why the system has declined the transaction"

I am from Bulgaria (its in the list), I am currently in Bulgaria, never done advertising, made a fresh email for the courses in Affilorama and i have "triggered several flags" that they dont even want to tell which...Outrageous!

I read alot of people have the SAME problem and noone have a solution.
Good I saw this threat and saw Mark mention the need to email abuse@clickbank.com about this.
I just wrote them, will see if there is a result.
    Thanks

    Hi Mark,

Could you please provide some effective free traffic sources to promote click bank products.

Further please advise if we go in paid resources then which is the most effective one? either is it google adwords or is it google display ads?

    Thanks

    cecille.l250 days ago

    Hi Yasmeen,

There is no one method that is sure to get traffic. It's always a combination of different methods, both paid and free.

If getting paid traffic, we recommend solo ads or media buys, but again, it's a combination of a paid method and free methods that work best in getting regular traffic to the website.

Hope that helps. All the best!
