Any plagiarism software that is free and reliable?

Hello guys,

I am still trying to write the article. Now I have already wrote 15 articles. But am really not sure if my work it okie.
I am afraid from the plagiarism thing, though i did wrote all the article by myself.

The reason here is i did not use PRL. I took the ideas from the web and rewrite it myself.

Now i wish to check if my work is plagiarize.
Can anyone suggest any Plagiarism software that is free and reliable.
As I have heard that some Plagiarism online or software company took the work of the writer and sold it. I don;t wish to be like some of the writers.

Look forward to your reply

What you can do is post the article(s) on a web page temporarily and then check using the free option of copyscape. Copyscape is a very good plagiarism checker/duplicate content detection software.

Hmm.. sound interesting. I have heard that copyscapy is good. Can you explain in more details of how to do it?

Thanks

Post your article on a webpage, then retrieve its URL. You then paste that URL in the box provided at http://www.copyscape.com/ and click go. Copyscape will then tell you if there is duplicate content anywhere on the web.

Thanks. I get what you mean now.

But... if I am not wrong, once I have submitted the article for copyscape to check. The article will be lock in their database. So next time if I use the article on my original site, it will be shown as plagiarism right?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hope to hear from you soon.

You perform a Copyscape search by entering the URL of your web page. It checks for plagiarism of content which are currently online. If you have edited your article and then run a Copyscape search, it will compare it to other sites which are online, and not with the previous article that you have submitted.

You could get several sentences at random and do a Google search on them (with quotes).

Or you could use the following:

http://www.copyscape.com
http://www.plagiarismchecker.com
http://www.dupefreepro.com
http://www.plagiarismtoday.com

Hope this helps :)

I have come up with duplicate content in Copysacpe when I ran one of my pages urls through copyscape. It seems the bits that are being flagged are quotes I took form an author on a closely related subject. It seems a lot of others have quoted him as well- but some don't seem to have included his quote in quotes! Mine is in quotes and clearly refers to the guy's name, book where it comes from and I have included a link to his book.

Have I done right and will my site be penalised??

From the Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Deftly dealing with Duplicate Content:

What isn't duplicate content?
Though we do offer a handy translation utility, our algorithms won't view the same article written in English and Spanish as duplicate content. Similarly, you shouldn't worry about occasional snippets (quotes and otherwise) being flagged as duplicate content.

Thanks Michelle

What about when it comes up with content that is not in quotes, and that is actually from an Affiliate site? I ran some of the pages of my main website -that I set up before I joined Affilorama and knew about Copyscape-and one page article popped up. I had used for this article on my site a lot of material en bloc from a Clickbank info page . It was to do with how to set up a website and make it easy for spiders to crawl your site etc. I hardly changed the language because it wasn't from anyone's blog or website- it was just technical info supplied on one of the Clickbank or Commission Junction web pages. I thought it was well expressed and that it was unnecessary to change the language hardly at all. Copyscape threw up the same article from a site that offers free SEO tools and the same article identically was there.
1) Do I need to rewrite the whole article -its been indexed already for a few months and people have made a few positive comments about it?

2) Would this explain why my PAge rank is still "0", and would that be likely to change if I rewrite that whole page?

Generally speaking, I guess I am asking "can you fix duplicate copy if you discover you have it some time after publishing it to the net, and if you do, how long does it take for your site to get back in Google's PR good books again?

Thanks for the post Michellarana on the plagiarism software links. That is exactly what I was looking for. Soon I will be looking to have 100+ articles written and hopefully this will help weed the "bad apples" out.

I think it's best practice to always run an article you are publishing on your site or submitting to a directory through Copyscape, particularly if it is a spun article. This way I know that the spun article does not come up as duplicate.

I've came to like the site http://www.seesources.com, which is free and really searches through a real search engine index. However, vor me it is worth the couple of cents per article to use the commercial version, that is plagscan. It's more 'expansive' (not really worth counting, afaic) than copyscape but to me it seems detection rate is far better.

Hello everyone,

I use PaperRater for plagiarism detection.

http://www.paperrater.com/

As far as plagiarism checking goes, it tells you the article's originality score in percents. The only downside is that it does not highlight the duplicate content, but it does give you links to sites where it found the same content. I found it very accurate and reliable.

It also includes grammar checking, a spellchecker, and produces interesting info about the article, such as:

- passive sentence count
- average sentence length (including longest and shortest sentence)
- and more

To tell you the truth, their grammar checker is terrible, and you are better off with Microsoft Word or another online grammar checker, but their other features are quite useful.
