Trying to add a forum to my site

i am trying to add a fourm to my site i have downloaded the phpbb software to use i uploaded the files from my computer to my ftp server i pointed my browser to *broken link* as the directions say

after that this is the url
    http://www.MYWEBSITE.com/MYWEBSITE/phpBB3/install/index.php

and it is just a blank page the install guide does not come up

what am i doing wrong? any ideas

Have you tried running a simple PHP script in the document root of your website (to make sure PHP is working)? Ex:

i dont know what you mean-- you mean put that script in my website ware the forum would be???

Hi Nate,

This is one of those things that could take dozens of back and forth messages to fix without your having a fundamental knowledge of how it works. I would recommend spending the time to learn about it, especially if you're going to be in the business of operating multiple websites.

Just some starters:
* I noticed PHPBB has extensive online documentation:
http://www.phpbb.com/support/documentation/3.0/
* Here is just one of thousands of pages out there describing how to test your PHP installation:
http://www.kirupa.com/web/testphp.htm
* Take a look through Wikibooks. There are lots of tutorials on website building, etc. Ex:
"http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Starting_A_Website"

Sorry that it seems I'm dismissing your ques, but I feel like I'd be do you a disservice by giving you a recipe. It would probably take longer using the forums than it would be for you to learn about it.

ya i will diff look at those sites i know how to build websites and stuff like that its just my first time adding a forum thats all once i figure it out it will be easy right??? lol its just like anything else your doing for the first time

I Reccomend you do not use phpbb, try using MyBB
