Site Load Speed

Hi Guys,

My website loads at 8.99 secs. I would appreciate any help to make my site load faster. I don't know anything about codes. My website is http://www.fruitlush.com. Thanks!

Hi John,

Looking at your site, it needs a better layout, maybe something like a magazine-style theme that combines text and image, without looking so cluttered. I ran your site URL through Google Page Speed and you can view the results
here.

The major recommendations are for you to use scaled images and use browser caching.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hey John,

If your site is a WordPress site, you can easily add a plugin called "Use Google Libraries" to speed up your site's page loads.

I prefer to test page load speeds on the "Pingdom" website: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/. Be sure to first use the "settings" to establish where the tests will originate - so they are all consistent.

Study the results to see what is causing the most slowdown. Try to keep all your uploaded images below 30 KB to 40 KB in size (50 KB if you really must). Proper image compression in Adobe Photoshop (or free GIMP program) is critical to page load speed.

Hope this helps...

Hi John,

You're welcome!

Another plugin you can look at it W3 Total Cache plugin. This helps speed up your site's loading time too.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

If installed incorrectly (not hard to do in my experience) a caching program can really mess up your site. I'd recommend doing a full backup before installing a caching program.

See the WordPress Codex (manual) and search on "backup" to learn how to do a full backup.

Hope this helps...

Hi lloydc1c1,

Yes, having too many plugins and too much ads as well can affect your site's loading speed so try looking for plugins that can do more that just one function. There are plugins that can help your site load faster too like the W3 Total Cache.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
