You can enable comments on each individual post by going to the Post Editor (where you edit posts) and then click on the " Screen Option " menu on the top right of the page. Check the box next to " Discussion " and scroll down the page until you see the Discussion box. Click on "Allow Comments" within it.
You can also go to Settings > Discussion and click on the box next to " Allow Comments ". This will enable comments for your site.
I tried enabling comments under Settings>Discussion, but that didn't work by itself. I was able to enable comments individually at the Post Editor. Thanks again.

You can change the default for new posts or pages, as well as enable/disable comments on posts or pages you have already published.
