Ideamarketers.com and articlecity.com are also great.
I wouldn't go overboard submitting articles, but if you can submit them constantly, over a period, then you'll do ok.

To how many article sites is it adviseable to send the same article?
If I send an article to an article site (or sites) is it OK to put it on my blog too?

There's no limit, the more the better. What is on someone elses site can't hurt your own.
If you want your article to help you rank, it's best to put it on your blog, then wait for it to be indexed by google, then submit it to article sites.
