Contextual backlinks are essentially hyperlinks to another website which are located within a paragraph of text, hence they are contextual, with text surrounding the link itself.
Google seems to respect contextual backlinks more than other forms of backlinks. However, this really depends on the website and page in which this contextual backlink is being created on.
