Do Free WordPress.com Websites Pass PageRank

Is it advisable to use free WordPress.com websites for backlinking purposes. What is the highest PageRank a free WordPress site can attain?

 Yes, you can use Wordpress.com sites and they can achieve pagerank the same way that other sites do. You must be careful to populate it with high quality content and no spam though as it will get shut down quickly if you're just trying to backlink it without any other value.

 Hi Akowally,

Yes you may but be very careful in posting content. Wordpress is strict with regards to content posts. They do not allow spamming as well so you better tone down the links you are putting.

 Thanks a lot Macdangling and eSolutions for your inputs.

I've been using WordPress.com for long before I started AB3. I managed to put up the top Kenyan blog in a certain niche and will soon move it to self hosted to take advantage of the huge popularity. I just wanted to know if it is good for backlinks. Of course I know all about spam and wouldn't do that anywhere.

I have been doing my research and I have not found any WordPress.com site that has a PR of higher than 2. Is this the highest PR for WordPress.com?

Actually the page rank depends on how the blog is doing overall- content, on-page seo, backlinks, and so on.

So if you are creating blogs on WordPress, you can increase your page rank by doing all the necessary SEO and marketing efforts (just like what you do to a normal website).

But do not spend too much time on getting your WordPress sites ranked (if you are just using WordPress to build backlinks to your website). As long as you post new content, do backlinks, and other on-page SEO, then in time, your WordPress blog will increase its page rank.
