Frustrated by High Cost per Click

I am getting very frustrated. I have a website that I put all the necessary pages on, privacy policy, etc. I have keyword optimized. I have done this several times and it seems like Google is wanting $1 or more per click. I had asked before how do I bring it down and followed the instructions.

I am using long-tail keywords that don't have huge search results. I am just stumped on why I can't get these costs down to around 20 to 30 cents.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Stacy,

Here are my questions for you:
1. How many keywords do you have for each ad group?
2. How many ad groups do you have for each campaign?
3. How long have you had your adwords account?
4. How long have you used your adwords account?

Answers to these questions might help look further into your high CPC.

Regards,
Renato

Well, my current one, I just have one ad group set up with two ads. 6 keywords that are tightly related with the same 2 word phrase included in each keyword. Each keyword is 3 or more words. The highest search figures for any of my keywords is 1900 per month, so I wouldn't think it would be so expensive.

I am going to set up probably 3 more adgroups for this campaign.

I have had my adwords account for over a year.

I have been using it off and on for over a year.

The ad I am sending people to is a full-page banner ad on my blog in overall niche.. I have had this blog running for over a year.

Thanks for the questions. Hopefully I can figure this out.

You seem to have everything set right. If it isn't your adwords history then it is possible that it's just the niche that dictates the CPC. Some niches are really just have a high CPC for search.

Thanks much for the insight.

It's not weight loss, but it is a health-related issue.

I'll give it a try and see what kind of conversions I get and do some testing. The payout is quite high if I can get the conversions to offset the high cpc.

Thanks again.

Update:

I went ahead and accepted the high bid. The highest was $1 and I bid for the first page on some other keywords, I think .80 and .92. So far, I have a ctr of .49% with no conversions yet. Only 8 clicks. Average position 5.6.

Will keep at it for awhile and see what happens.

After 2-3 days if the ad position is still the same you might want to increase your bid by 20% so you can get the 4th position.
