WordPress 3.0.2 was released Tuesday, 30 November 2010. According to wordpress.org, this is a mandatory security release for all previous WordPress versions.
In the new version, the pingback/trackback blogroll whitelisting feature was removed as it can easily be abused. It also fixes the following:
- a security issue where a malicious Author-level user could gain further access to the site
- canonical redirection for permalinks containing %category% with nested categories and paging
- occasional irrelevant error messages on plugin activation
There are also other technical fixes. You can go to http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.0.2
for a summary of the changes.
I have updated all my wordpress sites and have not yet come across any issue with plugins, etc.
