Which is better for SEO: text links or graphical links?

Text links are better for SEO. Text links can contain the anchor text that your page wishes to rank well for and that is an important factor in all three search engines, especially Google. Image links are still valuable but do have less benefits compared to text links. This is true despite image tags having the ALT attribute available. The ALT attribute can contain keywords but thanks to keyword stuffing they now are virtually worthless. (You should be using your ALT attributes for usability and accessibility and not SEO anyway).

 Mike ! I agree with you. Text links are much important SEO and it deserves better much priority. Most of SEO done on text links. Graphical and image optimization is not so popular than text link SEO. I always recommend anyone text link SEO.

 That may be true, but on my guitar site, I have a couple of images that are generating way more traffic for me than any of my search terms. Both can be useful.

 In fact, the term I targeted with the image doesn't do that well for me in the regular search results, but my image is near the top in the image search results, so I believe it was worth it.

 I think that Graphical links is more effective because graphical links brings the attention of the user.
