Reciprocal Links

There has lately been an influx of enquiries about placing reciprocal links on Affilorama-style websites. We do not really recommend reciprocal links because google disapproves of "Link to me and I'll link to you." schemes. See http://www.google.com/support/webmaster ... swer=66356

One way links from high quality websites that are related to our own sites have always been much more valuable. In addition, when people click away from our websites, we want them to click away through our affiliate links to buy the products we are promoting (on the merchant site) instead of clicking away to a website that may offer them another product to buy and thus causing us to lose potential commissions.

I agree. Link exchanges dilute the effect of the backlinks and can have a negative impact on your site. We should link only to high quality sites and to those that are relevant to our pages. Reciprocal link exchange is also against Google Adsense's TOS since one has to follow the Webmaster Guidelines to be approved for the program.
