You need to do keyword research to find keywords that has a high volume of searches per month, but at the same time low competition.

To do this, use Google's Keyword Planner, which they changed a little over the past few months. It use to be called Keyword Tool, it is very similar though, and if you used Keyword Tool before, you will see how similar Keyword planner is.

First, you need to have an account with Google Adwords, it is free to sign up and you don't have to use Adwords, there is a cost for that.

Once signed up go to the Tools and Analysis section, select Keyword Planner in the drop down menu.

Select "Search for New Keyword and Group Ideas". This brings up a pop up box, the first box labeled "Your product or service", enter your keyword here.

It is best to use long tail keywords, which is basically a keyword phrase. Instead of using the keyword "make money", use the long tail keyword "how to make money online" for example.

There are other options at the bottom of the box to customize your search or use can just use the default and then select "Get Ideas".

This takes you to a new screen with two tabs at the top, select "Keyword Ideas". You are now presented with a list of keywords, you can sort them by volume of searches per month by clicking on that column.

Go through the list and find keywords that relate to your website and have a volume of at least 5,000 searches per month.

Go to Goggle and type in your long tail keyword phrase, placing " at the beginning and end of your long tail keyword. This will return an exact match search of your keywords. At the top of the search will be the number of sites that match your keyword phrase.

You are looking for a number below 30,000, then use those keywords in your site title and the first sentence of the body of your site. Do not overuse your keywords on your site, this is keyword stuffing.

You should average about 3% keyword use, for every 100 words, use your keyword phrase about 3 times. This is the formula for success. Thank you for taking your time to read my article, I hope you found it helpful.
