Wordpress Home Page

Hi guys, just joined last week and putting together first affiliate page using wordpress - following the videos and using the supplied template from you guys I have setup the site with 5 articles as pages as outlined in the instructions however - as soon as I delete the default "hello world" post - there is no home page perse when we first go to the blog....

How to I nominate one of the pages as the "default" page - I've looked through all the wordpress settings and cannot see where this is.

Do I need to create a "post" that is just a copy of one of my pages??

Cheers

Darren

PS: Using latest ver of wordpress 2.7.1

I am not sure how the Afflio Blueprint theme is layed out but the way you set a homepage is this. Go down to Settings, then go to Reading. You will see an option that will allow you to assign "Front page displays" Play with the settings till you get the homepage you are looking far.

I hope this is clear, if not let me know and I will try to explain more.

You don't need to create a post since we will not be using posts as what we usually do on blogs. If you set the settings to static page, it will only show the page you have created.

Click on settings on the Dashboard, then go to Reading Settings. Tick on the "A static page" button and right below it is a dropdown menu for Front page. Select the page you want to be your home page. Leave the rest as is and click on "save changes".

Hope this helps.

Beauuutiful !!! - you are so right - must of been the 3am blurry eyes blues - not sure how II did'nt see that.... similiar question in the same vein - is it because I have no posts why I don't seem to be able to generate an RSS feed from the site?? I have other blogs running the feedburner plugin and have never had problem setting it up but cannot off this site - it's the only thing I can see that's different.

Ideas?

Yes you need to post before the RSS / Feed burner will work. I ran into this same thing a couple of months ago. We are in such a scramble to get our new blogs set up right with RSS and plugins that we don't think we need to post anything -yet. Well we do.
