Picking a suitable webhost - who is best?

:( i'm starting to look at hosting, check out affilorama, then hostgater, then godaddy. now after going through half a dozen, i'm confused with all the features & jargons. price versus features, disk space?bandwidth? is there a check list i can use as a guide?

also check these hosting plan i found, r they any good?

http://www.lypha.com/hosting_plans.shtml

http://www.hostexcellence.com/index.php ... s.products

http://www.startlogic.com/products.html

how do one know what's good? i only interested at the moment with a purely affiliate website with opt-in, blog, autoreponder and no shopping cart or ecommerce. thanks! :?

I use hostgator for all my sites (Check my sig ;)) and they're great. If you go the second plan for $9.95 a month you can host unlimited domains and you get a ton of bandwidth. Theres also 24 hour live chat if you get stuck with something (And I have several times.....).

Hey Geoff,

Did you check out the post I wrote on hosting?
https://www.affilorama.com/members/forum ... t1001.html

I haven't had any experience with the companies you've listed, but take a look around the net, see what people's opinions are. (Be aware that if they have affiliate programs, opinions might be a little skewed :) )

A lot of people on this board use HostGator, particularly their $9.95 package which (as Sean says) lets you host a whole bunch of domains on the one account.

I think at the moment if you use the coupon "webhostingunleashed" you get your first month for 1c as well :) If it doesn't, just google "hostgator coupon" and you should get the most recent ones.

Good luck!

I actually looked at HostGator also & then went with HostNine.com. They are very similiar, but Hostnine is a little cheaper (monthly for reseller account). They have great, great, great live support. I am technically a dummy. These guys have helped my hours upon hours to get things right. They way I am, I have to look at the support. They also have a knowledgebase & flash tutorials for you to use. I like them alot. Hope this helps.
