I've been meaning to make this blog post for a while now, but time has just flown by with all that has been happening.
Anyway, without further ado I'm very happy to announce that my wife Michelle and I are now parents to a beautiful baby boy called Benjamin Logan Ling.
He was born on April 22nd weighing 9.4 pounds.
He's our first child.
He has been keeping us up till all hours some nights, then others he has given us blissful sleep (between feeds anyway). All in all he is healthy and...
Just a very quick blog post to let you know that there was a massive earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand (where Affilorama's head office is) and the city centre is in a pretty bad way. It is currently on lock down and there is no power or access to our offices unfortunately.
We are all safe and well but ask you to please bare with us for the next few days while we try and get everything back to normal. There may be some slight delays in us repsonding to questions on the...Read more
Last September, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit the city that I live in (Christchurch, New Zealand) and caused a lot of damage, although luckily noone was killed (My blog post from last September's quake is here).
This time on the 22nd of February, we weren't so lucky. A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit, and it caused a LOT more damage, injuries and death than the previous quake. It is a total disaster.
Thanks for all of you who have written in asking about how my staff and my family...
I meant to get this post out several weeks ago, however I've been taking a lot of time out to be a full time dad lately, so I thought I might as well wait till I had some Christmas snapshots to share also before announcing that I'm once again a proud father :)
Here is the story of what happened:
Six weeks ago, on November 16 my 2nd son, Caleb Johnny Ling, was born (pronounced 'Cay-lib').
When he came out I thought he looked so much like my other son Benjamin, here is a photo...Read more
One of the biggest debates in the SEO world (and one that shows absolutely no signs of ever going away) is the do-follow vs no-follow links debate. There is one camp who stringently argue that the only links worth anything are do-follow ones; on the other hand, there is a group who say that it doesn't really matter.
So who is right and who is wrong? Is there any hard evidence when it comes to do-follow vs no-follow and their importance to the humble affiliate marketer?
The Do-Follow Links...Read more
The following is a guest blog post by Matthew Carter:
So it looks like Google has brought out a new keyword tool!
I have recently spent some time using it, and overall I was really impressed with the new metrics and the way Google are displaying the keyword data.
In this post I have provided an explanation with screen shots, of some of the initial things that I think are going to be really useful with the new tool.
The first and very obvious difference that I can see, is that...
Search engine optimization has two vital parts – on-page and off-page optimization. Each is needed to complement the other’s end goal, when being implemented, in order to work efficiently.
When we say off-page optimization, or “link building”, we mean the process of making the website/webpage popular through citations from other websites; on-page optimization, however, refers to making the website/webpage relevant to the targeted search term, so it is returned by the search engines when...Read more
If you're anything like me then you love to keep your finger on the pulse of the affiliate marketing and SEO world. Just like you probably watch the 6pm news broadcast on TV, you should keep up to date with SEO current events. The biggest headline story this week has to be the deindexing of blog networks by Google.
Thousands have been affected by Google either partially or completely removing entire blog networks. When Google removes a website from its index, any outgoing links automatically...Read more

Do you get too many 'guru' emails hitting your inbox that it distracts you away from spending productive time making money online?
Personally, I'm subscribed to over 100 different internet marketing guru's newsletters.
Some are good, most are spammy, some are appallingly spammy.
With most of them I have set up categories and rules so that the emails automatically go into folders that are categorized by the guru's name.
That way I only take a look through a particular guru's...
