How do I make sure I have H1 and H3 tags in wordpress?
I'm not sure how to make sure I have H1 and H3 in my wordpress posts or pages.
Is it just a certain font size?
Thanks

H1 and H3 are actually tags which, when applied to text, causes the text to take on the attributes defined in the stylesheet (CSS). Typically, H1 would be set up as large, bold font most appropriately used for post/page titles and H3 would be smaller font appropriate for section titles.

So, if I used a font and made large bold, such as H1, would google see it as an H1 tag without the actual tag?

Actually, no. You need to put in the H1 tag. You do that by highlighting the text and then selecting Heading 1 from the Format dropdown.

Fara,
I am trying to insert both H1 and H3 tags, but I don't see anything that resembles a "Heading 1" from a "Format drop down". I am using All In One SEO Pack.
In wordpress, would I be able to insert H1 tag in my title? Would that be appropriate as long as it includes my keyword phrase?
Or, would I insert the H1 tag in my first sentence of the article.
Obviously, I am a bit confused about this.

@drawnairb If you don't see the Format drop down, click on the 'kitchen sink' button (last one on the right). It will open up the next row of editing buttons.

Ok, very good...that worked out fine.
My question now is, is my title already formatted as H1 tag in wordpress? If not, then I don't know how to change it because I tried and it made my first paragraph of my article as H1.
My other question is about selecting an H3 tag in my article. Would I just outline my keyword phrase anywhere in my article and designate it as H3? Or do I type out the keyword phrase, separated between two paragraphs and then designate it H3? Would you have any examples that you could show me on how it would look?
Thank you

The problem with choosing an H tag from kitchen sink is that Wordpress allows you to insert several H1 tags, which is not valid code.
Be sure to check your code to ensure that you only possess one H1 tag. As well, you may not repeat H2 tags for valid code, but all others down the line you may repeat.
Especially if you are using the Semper Fi All-in-one seo pack, they tend to insert tags as well on the back end.
And no, you may not insert H1 tags in Title tags. Many people actually choose to use the same wording for their H1 tags as their title tags to improve seo results.
Hope that helps.

This will depend on the wordpress theme you are using. If you are using one of our (Affilorama) themes, then the titles of your posts and pages are H1. This is also the case with most of the themes that you can get from wordpress.org
If you are not sure if the theme you are using formats your post/page titles as H1, then look at the source code of your post or page.
I hope that helps :)

H1 and H3 tags are applied on text so you can see it easily.
