Note: This lesson will make more sense if you watch our video on the basics of setting up a website first, where we take you through the process of establishing a simple website and explain the terminology.
For the purposes of this lesson, we are using HostGator to host the domain name; however, the process is similar across hosting sites in general.
When you sign up with a hosting service you receive access to what is known as the ‘cPanel’. A cPanel is basically a central administration area where you control all the different features and functions of your website. You get access to this the moment you sign up with your hosting service.
We’re assuming that you’ve already registered a domain name for your blog and have followed the instructions from Basics of Setting up a Website video to point the domain to the DNS servers of your hosting account.
