 Google Analytics helps you analyze your website's traffic: where you get your traffic from, what page users were on before they go your site, what pages do they exit from, bounce rate, etc. It also shows you the amount of traffic you're getting. These data are important as they show you the effect of your on-page and off-page SEO on your site.

 Cecille is correct, the only problem is Google doesn't give you all the information is should, for years we would get a great list of the keywords people used to find your site which was a great help. Now you get very few and I don't understand why they stopped telling us what people were asking for when they found our sites.
