Thought people here may be interested to know about a domain name appraisal scam that has been going around for the last few months, I just got hit by it today from a parked domain at sedo. Ignore the emails and do not reply to them. It IS a scam. They send you an email with the following...
Hello,
We are going to buy your domain name.
Our company is in hosting and domain name business.
Please email us your desired price in USD or euros for the domain name in the subject line.
If you have other names for sale please email us your domains with prices.
Looking forward to doing business with you.

Thanks for the heads up, Essexboyracer!
When you reply to this type of email, they require an appraisal to verify the value. The scammer either owns the domain appraisal company you are referred to, or is a paid affiliate.
If someone wants to buy your domain and is asking for an appraisal, tell them to go ahead and pay for an appraisal and you'll subtract it from the purchase price.
Hope that helps!
